That's propaganda and 750 bucks for disaster relief is a joke! FEMA is absolutely completely failing these people. On the other hand, people also shouldn't expect anyone to have a magic wand and be able to make everything instantly better and I've heard some unrealistic opinions from people who seem to think that someone should. I recently was acquainted with a master woodworking craftsman from Marshall when I placed an order for a custom rolling pin and some replacement handles. It was heartbreaking that he pulled everything off his Etsy store - refunded my money. But comforting to know he was safe enough to send a message saying his shop was destroyed , as has been the entire community. I can’t express how much I appreciate this video the tour, it’s much worse than I could have imagined. I cry for everyone impacted by this disaster, yet comforted to see the community joining together. Will be keeping yall in my thoughts and prayers and awaiting the day to put my order in again with John at Elk Fork Woodworks…assuming he sets shop up again. As an outsider looking in, it is painful to see such devastation. Fingers crossed everyone gets more help and support from state and federal governments.

Writing from Montpelier, VT where we had a flood July 11, 2024. A community hub was formed to help volunteers get situated. People could only come into the city to volunteer. At Christ Church we had hundreds of volunteers who brought everything up from the basement, helped destroy the Sheetrock walls, scrape up the silt into buckets. The piles outside the buildings rose up the top of the first floor. The power company had to come in and disconnect the electricity and Public Works had to turn water back on making sure the pipes hadn’t burst. The National guard were called in to help remove the debris. Our hearts are with you . When roads are repaired the volunteers will come!

Tony and Nate, thank you for sharing the story of your town. We are getting very little information via the News. A more than a handful of folks are vlogging a d sre sharing different aspects of the storm. Most volunteers are vlogging. Their sincerity is palpable. Some grew up in the area. Others are homesteaders . Many have purchased thousands of dollars worth of food, water, chain saws, gloves, gas from their own savings. Many survived Katrina or something similar. No FEMA outside of Ashville. 1000+ still missing. But time and again the vlogs have shown community . Everybody is helping. People are offering different skill sets. People are still STUCK OUT IN THE MOUNTAINS. Private helicopters as well S military are getting these people out. So please know how appreciated your endeavors are as the news isn't getting the message out. Please stay safe. Please continue with updates. This will take years to fix.❤😢😮😅😢

It took awhile, but with beautiful people who volunteered to help us our main floor was rebuilt. A lovely grew of gentlemen came all the way from Tennessee! What a blessing. I would recommend, once power is restored, to have some fans just to gently circulate the air to avoid mold. Like you said, the wood floors should dry slowly, so you don't want to blast the air. My husband and sons mucked out the main floor and set folding tables up outside and just piled everything that could be saved up on the tables. God is good.

I agree 100% the mud and debris can be removed, the buildings have stood for hundreds of years to be restored yet again! We are seeing in real time what must have happened prior. From empty cities to streets covered in mud. This is definatly a familiar site. I can not help but look for old walls and evidence of the old world as people post video. Some old building foundations have had the water un-bury the bottom floors to expose the true dimensions of the original structure. No one built basement floors with the windows covered up.

I continuously watch all the devastation that so many have went through and will have to deal with for such a long time and it truly hurts my heart and makes me cry for all whole lost to this tragedy. It's overwhelming to watch I cannot even begin to understand how the people who live here feel. The clean up and rebuilds will be such a long process and I pray for ALL involved that the day comes quickly when you all can look back at this as a memory that you all overcame.

Hey there, so so sorry to see your adorable and historic town in such a state. I’ve been through several hurricanes including cat 5’s with storm surges etc but you’ve never expect storms to cause so much damage in mountain towns. Water has so much power. I sincerely hope you guys recover and are able to keep the quaint feel even with the new building. Sending love and prayers to you and all affected.

As others have said here and in other NC and Tennessee storm videos, the older buildings were constructed better and so more of them are still standing. Our forefathers knew better how to build a solid structure than we do today!! Great coverage of the damage in Marshall.. thanks so much😊 😊😊
