Writing from Montpelier, VT where we had a flood July 11, 2024. A community hub was formed to help volunteers get situated. People could only come into the city to volunteer. At Christ Church we had hundreds of volunteers who brought everything up from the basement, helped destroy the Sheetrock walls, scrape up the silt into buckets. The piles outside the buildings rose up the top of the first floor. The power company had to come in and disconnect the electricity and Public Works had to turn water back on making sure the pipes hadn’t burst. The National guard were called in to help remove the debris. Our hearts are with you . When roads are repaired the volunteers will come!

Others are homesteaders . Many have purchased thousands of dollars worth of food, water, chain saws, gloves, gas from their own savings. Many survived Katrina or something similar. No FEMA outside of Ashville. 1000+ still missing. But time and again the vlogs have shown community . Everybody is helping. People are offering different skill sets. People are still STUCK OUT IN THE MOUNTAINS. Private helicopters as well S military are getting these people out. So please know how appreciated your endeavors are as the news isn't getting the message out. Please stay safe. Please continue with updates. This will take years to fix.❤😢😮😅😢

It took awhile, but with beautiful people who volunteered to help us our main floor was rebuilt. A lovely grew of gentlemen came all the way from Tennessee! What a blessing. I would recommend, once power is restored, to have some fans just to gently circulate the air to avoid mold. Like you said, the wood floors should dry slowly, so you don't want to blast the air. My husband and sons mucked out the main floor and set folding tables up outside and just piled everything that could be saved up on the tables. God is good.

I lived in your neighboring town of Mars Hill for many years, and I loved to drive over to Marshall. It was so charming. It will get back there again. All this will take time.

My grandfather (Geter Messer) helped build the dam in town many years ago . I was in Marshall this past Spring to visit on the way to the Biueridge parkway. It’s heart rendering to see the devastation to town after all the memories of this town when our parents would take us there as kids

As others have said here and in other NC and Tennessee storm videos, the older buildings were constructed better and so more of them are still standing. Our forefathers knew better how to build a solid structure than we do today!! Great coverage of the damage in Marshall.. thanks so much😊 😊😊

Faith in God and determination to rebuild will bring another video showing life and some pretty, new buildings. Please keep posting videos with your progress.

Your son Nate, definitely has talent as a camera videographer. His video is professional quality. He is steady and focused. Thank you for the video Sir. The news media are not reporting or showing this horrendous damage. The loss of life is heartbreaking. The loss of homes, businesses, and entire towns is overwhelming.
