cuddle dudz are a good under clothing thermal layer! and they're relatively affordable, i usually find mine at like marshalls or tj maxx. it gets to -60f/-51c here, that's helped a decent amount. BOG boots are really great too! especially if you wear in a muddy area like myself. they tolerate well with below freezing temps and don't slip very easy. yak traks are a good addition for boots if you need more grippy, they're the things you put over the bottom of your boots to add traction.

When she said showing ankles I lol'd I cannot imagine exposing any skin but a small strip around my eyes when we have a blizzard 😆 Great video as usual. She uses a lot of the same essentials as me except for the thermal tops. I rather go with short sleeves, cardigan/zip hoodie and coat then a skin tight top that I'll sweat through when I'm indoors.

I live in Germany and we still have "real" winters with snow, ice and cold wind even though they aren't as harsh like 15 years ago. People who are used to californian weather would still freeze. Everytime I see a "winter" lookbook and the person is just wearing a thin sweater with destroied jeans, I'm wondering how they would react to a real winter weather.

As a fellow Canadian I would agree entirely with your list, but add one more item: a thin down vest to layer underneath your wool coat to make it a bit warmer (when you eventually get sick of your parka). I would never be without one. Stay warm!! From Ottawa- where it's even colder!! 🥶

Something to mention here (even tho this video isn’t new), is that the indicated degree that a brand indicates the piece can withstand, doesn’t indicate you’ll be toasty when out in that temperature. It indicates that the piece will keep you alive in that temperature! I recently learned that when I went camping at the end of Fall, close to winter. My sleep bag indicated 10 degrees (F) and that night was about 17 degrees but I couldn’t fall asleep because I was so cold! Searching more about that phenomenon the next day, I came to learn you’re supposed to look for a sleeping bag that is rated 10-15 degrees warmer than the expected weather outside, if that makes sense!

Thanks for doing this video. I live in NYC and have to dress comfortably for all climates. I don't understand influencers who live in a real winter and force being "minimal". I have four sweaters, 4 sweater dresses, 4 wool tights, cashmere socks, a long puffer (w/hood, -30F protection, and waterproof), a long wool coat, snow boots, dressier boots, and a casual boot, gloves, hat, and scarf for winter. One coat and like two sweaters don't cut it for most people. I gave up on that and consider my wardrobe pragmatic and thoughtful.

I know it can feel irritable to some people, but Alpaca is also another great material to keep warm. I have alpaca sweaters that look comparatively thinner and have a looser knit compared to my wool and cashmere sweaters but they keep me just as warm. Agree that innerwear is a must. They also keep your clothes fresher and cleaner for longer inbetween washes.

Great video thank you - I am very impressed at surviving Canadian winters - they are something else! I'm in Cornwall, UK, where it's really variable in the winter, but generally very wet. Today it's 12 degrees C with 25 miles per hour winds, but last week we had 5 degrees and 50mph winds, and then torrential rain. So you need to be waterproofed, but also wearing breathable layers that you can take off and on easily as it's easy to overheat! I would love a cold, dry, crisp winter though, with snow, and less rain! Hope you keep toasty!

I live in Glasgow, Scotland. It can be anything from -5 to +15c in winter and it's really wet and windy. My best winter clothing buy was a really good waterproof coat that has taped seams, is breathable and is thin so I can layer it to adjust the warmth. I also love my merino wool baselayers because they never feel damp or sweaty. And boots that are actually waterproof, so no zip ups for me!

So this past year I purchased a travel coat from Eddie Bauer that has a lining that can be added or removed and in the PNW where I live it's been the best -- Perfect for our rain and wearing a thick sweater underneath and/or the lining and is more flexible for the seasons (two rainy seasons, one rainy season with the possibility of snow and one summer). I have other coats but keep grabbing this one. HUGE difference. I also wear TImberlands or Sorels to keep my feet warm and comfortable. Last year I found a 'built in warmth' jean from Old Navy and it has been sooo great with this season! I wear them to work, I wear them anywhere.

I live in The Netherlands, where it's not too cold (only rarely below zero) but rains a lot. I think that your winter essentials & mine are quite similar with few exceptions! To me, leather gloves does the job best especially on bikes especially if you have to change gears while cycling (or text - but please don't you'll get a fine!). You can get away with insulated fabric ones, but for me the leather ones are warmer. The knitted gloves will definitely absorb water, learned this lesson during my first winter here. I like fisherman beanies and berets, sometimes when it rains I also wrap my gigantic scarf over my head. I don't have snow boots, because it almost doesn't snow here & I think the snowy week in February this year was just an exception - I could still manage with boots. I do make sure that my boots have great soles though, to make sure I don't slip when walking or cycling.

For boots, I have to go Hunter with warm socks underneath, because Chicago winters tend to be very wet (sleet, rain when not snowing). For coats I’ve always gone Lands End but they’ve changed their business model now so I guess I’ll have to buy those secondhand now.

Do you know the brand "icebreaker"? They have real nice wool stuff for layering and/or sport. "Lowa" is great for winter boots. I hope both brands deliver to Canada 😉

I live in the north of Sweden so our climate are similar :) I wear wool undies, socks and sweaters, parkas, beanie and mittens. I like to use te same clothes all year, so layering is a must. I would like to find a vintage wool coat so thats what i'm looking for no. Great video and stay warm☃🤍

Love your videos! I can recommend primaloft as a solid alternative to down. I used down jackets my whole life but bought a thin light primaloft puffer 2 years ago and it is the warmest jacket I have ever owned. It’s meant for more mild winter weather but I can wear it in 20 degrees Fahrenheit and still feel warm. I know that’s not as cold as winter gets but this is a LIGHT jacket so I can only assume a legit parka with primaloft would probably be extra toasty. Looking forward to your next vid :)

Christina! You've totally inspired me to make more "uniforms" in my closet. I wore a blazer with a hoodie to the airport and felt so comfy and put together?! Where do you find good quality blazers? I want one or two more :))) Have an amazing holiday and excited for your 2022 content! Get it girl!

I live in SoCal so it’s not that cold during winter. But my alma mater is in the Midwest and thermals, sweaters, beanie, fleece jackets, and my ski jacket were absolutely essential for me. I didn’t have a car and rarely left campus, and since the walkways were always shoveled I didn’t have too much of a need for snow boots. I had them just in case, but I def used my riding boots more. Fleece lined leggings were my jam too and super comfy. Your list is pretty spot on and super practical!

@@Christinamychas we’re def spoiled over here 😅 I was doing work at Starbucks today and saw multiple people wearing fur lined boots and puffer jackets even though it was 55. Idk if they actually felt cold or if we’re all ready for holiday weather to bust out the cozy comfy clothes 😂

Typically where I live, the weather does not remain consistent, but our coldest months are usually towards the end of December as well as throughout January and February. It's irritating living in the south sometimes because of this, but at the very least, my top winter essentials would be a basic winter jacket, some gloves and some sturdy boots that can handle ice, slush and wet puddles.

Lmfao so yesterday Edmonton got to minus ungodly. And I was every color of the rainbow because all of my warmest things are a mishmash of styles and colours . I looked ridiculous on the bus, waddling up to work, etc. Sometimes fashUn goes out the window when it's cold enough to lose limbs.

I live in Norway on the west coast, here the weather is really unpredictable in winter, but it is always windy, so you need all kinds of winter gear. When it comes to thermals, I always chose wool. That is the best way to keep warm imo. We have several norwegian brands that make really good wool thermals for all kinds of harsh weather. When it comes to socks I prefer to make them myself, and also gloves. You can pick a nice yarn, knit the gloves a bit big, and then wash them in the washingmachine. That way they will shrink just a little bit, and the wool gets really thick and windproof. And they last forever!

Hi Christina. I saw the same marketplace and I would love to hear a review of your boots after wearing them for the winter. I live in Ottawa and after getting frost bite on my toes as a teenager I have a harder time keeping them warm as I get older. So would love to know your thoughts about the Wind River boots as the winter progresses.
