Winter in Canada can get cold especially if you live in more Northern parts of Canada. Even if you are South of Canada, you may get hit by -20 Celsius and experience strong winds that make it feel like -30. In this video we share our advice on what to wear and how to dress up in winter in Canada, as well as how much it costs.

Thank you, I am a new subscriber. Happy New Year! Your video content will be very helpful if/when we visit anywhere with very cold conditions or when SE Michigan gets very cold again (like last week!). Similar content helped me pack for Christmas week in Chicago during very cold temperatures and wind. 🌬️❄️🥶😁❤️ Excellent explanations about reasons behind what styles and materials to wear and why! I haven't seen a video like that before now! One of my best clothing items I wore for the first time this past week in Chicago (temps well below 0°F with very low wind chill temperatures!) Eddie Bauer fleece-lined/ windbreaker outer layer pants. Lightweight and very warm! 😁

Down coats are the lightest current insulating material we have. That is why down summit suits are used to summit Everest and other 8000 meter peaks; if you want warm and light go down. I really hope that was just a gaff and they dont actually think down is heavier.

Best Winter boots are Pajar , a bit expensive , a goor pair of leather and shearling interior boots can cost upto $ 500-700 ,it's definitely worth it and will last you for many years to come. As for winter jackets,it all depends on your Budget, if you can splash some money,i highly recommend a Canada goose ,Mackage,Northface or Kanuk and if you can afford a Moncler then by all means do go for it 😉 but be ready to splash 2,000-3000 dollars. Yes , i ageee you can get much cheaper jackets but the quality and material can't be compared to what I've mentioned. And for Sweaters or jumpers the best is fleece or Cashmere. Winter clothes can be very expensive especially if you want to look stylish as well ! love ❤ you're videos,both of you are gorgeous 😍

In Scotland, we normally call a toque a tammy. You see them everywhere in winter. Definitely the most popular kind. You see them with and without pompoms on top. Great video as per usual. As someone who is used to dramatic temperature change in Ontario I prefer layering. The best way I have found to do this is with a hoodie. Of course alternatively if you live in Toronto you could just get an Apartment in an Apartment complex connected to PATH. Then never have to go outside. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Path_(Toronto) Or drive you car from your garage to a parking complex connected to PATH. Montreal has something similar.

@@MakeThatChange Very True. I just think that you have a city plaqued by snowfall every year. Which finds a practical way to deal with the problem. Then despite the fact it’s constantly expanding and growing. It seems fewer and fewer people know about it. Personally speaking. If we are talking a trip outside to get the mail or take the garbage out. It has to be below negative ten before I consider wearing something more than shorts and a T shirt outside. Now that’s a short trip outside. No snow or ice on the ground. Just cold out. My point is temperature doesn’t really bother me. Most people however don’t realize that snow/water is dangerous to the body when it comes to cold. This is due to the fact that the body try’s to warm anything touching it. So all it takes is for one snowballs worth of snow to get under your coat. Your body melts the snow , turning into water. Which saturates any clothing under your coat. Your body will then effectively try to heat that wetness. What people also don’t realize is this can happen with excessive sweat. So it’s good to bundle up if your going out to be physical. But you need to be practical about it. Sometimes in these cases less is more. In either case afterwards. Get indoors and set anything wet out to dry if your going back out. Say your going for a coffee, or to a friends place. Geese get me started. Will get off my soap box now. Be well. Be safe.

they can be a great option, especially if you have some underpants like man tights or leggings. Otherwise, the cargo pants are wide, and that means there is lots of cold air floating between the garment and your body - your goal is to trap air, so you want to optimize for clothes that are closer to your skin.

Actually people can get sick from too warm, or overheating when they dress for outside then go inside for too long - you start sweating. And when you go back outside you are now cold and damp. I take my coat off in a grocery store for example, I always use a cart to put everything in even if I am only getting a couple of things. Then dress back up before going back out. I also use ear bags from marks and then a torque, double the ear protection and keeps the torque in place. A good pair of mitten gloves work well as your fingers can heat each other but you can just expose your fingers or just one when needed. Best ones are woollen - church Christmas fairs have home knitted ones that are really good. If you are really lucky you can get a pair that goes up the forearm. Knitted socks are great too. Don’t forget sunglasses, sun blindness is a thing.

We are from Mumbai India and its warm ,the temperature hardly dips below 20 degrees and the normal temperature is around 31 to 35 degrees centigrade . You are from Russia therefore you are aware of the cold winter and how to handle it . The knowledge that you have passed on is very useful . I have a question , Does cold conditions in Toronto ever cause depression especially if one comes from a hot country? Of you wear such layers of clothing isn't the body deprived of the sunlight as such during winters in Canada, rarely do you see the sun and cause Vit D deficiency.
@MakeThatChange
@MakeThatChange 2 жыл бұрын
In my opinion lack of sunlight can cause some depression, that's why some people claim Vancouver can be very depressing in winter with grey skies most of the time. Toronto has a lot of sunny days throughout the year. By the way, you can google the number of sunny days if you're curious to learn more. As for vitamin D, your face and hands will absorb quite enough, no need to worry. Or you can take vitamins if you feel like you need to. P.s. Anna is from Siberia and she's never had vitamin D deficiency, even though winter in her home town lasts for 6 months. But since it's sunny it's enough to absorb sunlight with face.

I recommend that you invest in a good winter parka ( A branded one). It will last forever. I have been using one for 7 years. It is in very good condition just like newly bought. I dont feel like 6 to 7 yrs have run ehen i look at the coat. The coat has no damages. I use dry cleaning. I bought it for 700 to 800 USD. So, i recommend buying a expensive good one. Its worth the spending

What is the jacket model at 1:20? I am wondering if I can wear a tshirt, that as an inner layer, and a thin leather jacket down to temperature of like 0C.

How about using heated (battery-operated) clothings? Would you recommend?

It's unnecessary, its not THAT cold and you won't be exposed to such low temperatures for long times 😊

@@MakeThatChange I would be coming from a tropical country where I already feel a bit uncomfortable in 24deg celsius. With a bit more cold, I already feel some headache and sneezing. Im thinking heated clothings would help but also worried about if it's manageable to always wear one, or would I be jeopardizing my own body in its process of acclimization or if there are any dangers in using them that I didn't know of. Btw, thank you so much for an excellent video. All your content are top-notch too! 👌🏻

Is it possible to wear a short sleeved under a wsrm winter coat?
@MakeThatChange
@MakeThatChange 7 ай бұрын
Yes, but we would not recommend it for hygienic purposes. Ideally you want to at least have a moisture wicking layer between your body( and arms) and the coat. The thing is if you end up sweating a lot; you’d have to wash your coat more often - it is easier to wash a thin sleeved shirt than a whole jacket. Hope this helps
