I'm really glad you're getting the opportunity to rebuild your collection. I've been in the same situation in the past and I have a really nice one now. But you must, must get something better than the Retron 5. Mediocre emulation and input lag is a terrible curse. :)

Ehh...agree to disagree there, but that's not to say your comment is without merit. Let me explain. :) I have my Retron specifically for capturing footage for my videos. For convenience sake, having NES, Famicom, Genesis, SNES, Game Boy, GBC, GBA, Game Gear, Master System, and Sega Card games all with one stop shopping is incredibly helpful when it comes time to actually put a video together. When I'm just playing? Top loader for NES, Sharp Twin Famicom for Famicom and Famicom Disk System games.

My five would be: Mega Man 5, Super Mario Bros. 2, The Legend of Zelda, Castlevania, and Slalom. I agree with you on the Top Loader, especially since pairing it with a CRT gives me access to Zapper games, but I have to shout out the AVS. It’s an FPGA console that in my opinion is better than the NES console Analogue put out years ago, and for WAY cheaper.

First, I would start out with the NES Power Set CIB. That's the version my brother, sister and I got for Christmas in 1989. Aside from the pack in game I would get TMNT 2, Double Dragon 2, Bucky O'Hare, Battletoads/Double Dragon, and WWF WrestleMania Challenge. Loved the video, your choices are all great. Thank you.

Just sent this to a kid starting off his journey 😎 i restarted with New (AV) Famicom, i play on a pvm 2030. Five games are hard to remember from when i reatarted, but i would think 1. Castlevania 2. Ghouls and Ghosts 3. Punchout 4. Mario 3 5. Gradius Turtles 1 might have replaced one of those. Great video SP!

1. 2 Controllers + Zapper. 2. Top 5 Living Room Games (pick up and play multiplayer games). Duck Hunt, Tecmo Bowl, Bubble Bobble, etc. 3. 1 single player game, beat it. Only then will you buy the next one.

Nice to see Popeye getting some love on KZbin. I absolutely love Popeye. My 5 games I would get first Kung Fu Popeye GunSmoke Bubble Bobble Bram Stokers Dracula. Growing up I spent most of my time in the arcades and some of the early arcade ports were the reason I got a NES. So my nostalgia started in the arcades which is quite obvious with the list. And I would say one game could have been on the list but if you are starting out again would be difficult as you need a proper crt TV to play it and that is Hogans Alley.

I realise those games will not be on most people's list but for me those what got me into console gaming especially Kung Fu and Popeye as when I saw them in a magazine on the NES as a kid I thought the NES was a miracle to have those 2 arcade games perfectly put onto those cartridges and be able to play them at home I knew I had have a NES. I then only played arcade ports on my NES but then when family got me gifts they would get me NES games. They never asked what games I wanted and that was a good thing as they didn't get me arcade ports they got me Zelda, Metroid, Mega Mans, and so many more great games that made me a Nintendo fanboy and I am now nearly 48 and I am still that same fanboy but not just on the NES but all Nintendo consoles (except the virtual boy). So if it wasnt for those brilliant arcade ports I don't think I would have got the NES I know there are so many better games on the system but for me they are my routes and from routes grow beautiful things.

Love my top loader but got a Retron 5 now that I use (Haha just got to that part of the video thats what you do too). NES must haves for me.. Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, Jackal, all the Mario Games, Paperboy, American Gladiators..

For the Nes. 10-20 games would do it for me in the collection if I had to restart collecting for it. I got 29 games for it. Some I bought for cheap. Every Collection if I were to own games for it. The top 10-20 games for me would be fine for each. I play most of them on my Ever drives.

Heck yeah mega man. I don’t know that I’d pay the extra money for 5, but I have them all. Maybe get the Famicom version and save money. I love the way the Famicom rock man games look.

Getting all the NES carts is/was one of those 'Now that I'm an adult' things I had to complete, and if I had to restart I'd do it again - but I wouldn't hold off on 5 and 1 until the end. ;) Rock Man and Rock Man 6 are my targets now. The Famicom carts are gorgeous and I need them. :D

I'd get a top loader if I could find one to restart a NES collection. Otherwise a clone console would do. Top 5 games Gyruss - played this a lot on the C64 Shadowgate - one of the first NES games I beat. yes, it was as an adult. SMB 3 - taking the best. Rescue Embassy Mission - Played this on PC a bunch M.u.s.c.l.e. - Enough said lol

I think I would go with a retron for ease of play and would immediately get these 5 games: Captain Skyhawk Final Fantasy Mario 3 Rolling Thunder (yes the tengen one) Robocop (because it was the first game I ever owned)
