MLB Power Pros was not a one-off here in the US. The Wii got the original and MLB Power Pros 08, which added a little depth to the RPG mode and updated the rosters. Power Pros is my favorite baseball game to date, though admittedly I haven't invested much time into Griffey.

What you said language barriers in sports games is so true. I grew up LOVING World Series baseball and world series baseball II on Saturn. And recently got the greatest nine games from Japan. Its so fun seeing the slight differences between the games. Also Ichiro in a 1996 video game. That’s super fun.

Great video! I follow a lot of retro accounts and not enough of them do sports game videos. MVP 2004 and 2005 dominated those summers for me, so thanks for giving MVP 2005 some love! I also remember being addicted to SportsTalk as well! I have to check out power pros now. Also, loved NES baseball stars and Dreamcast World Series baseball.

I wish you had gone back further. Missed some amazing games on earlier computers and consoles. Two notables that appeared on several platforms in the 80’s; Hardball and Star League Baseball. Hardball on the C64 was jaw dropping at the time. WTF! This is ‘real’. And Star League Baseball was incredibly playable. Has the National Anthem, fictitious scores of other games and handled base running, pitching and batting with a simple joystick masterfully. Check both out if you want to admire the high point of early 80’s baseball games.

DO NOT sleep on power pros, amazing game. Bold choice not putting mario baseball on GC, probably the best career mode I've played in a sports game, recruiting opposite team star players is a great mechanic.
@SquarePegsАй бұрын
Confession time - the main reason I didn't include Mario Baseball is because my footage looks horrible with a ton of artifacting and the sound was choppy as hell. I do personally prefer MVP 05, but I also know that puts me in the minority. :)

Watching the video to see how many I've done seasonal/special updates to. To this date, I've done ROM updates to EIGHT different NES & SNES baseball games. Let's see how many make it on this list. UPDATE: One game (SNES) was on the list. In the past, I've updated Ken Griffey Jr. Presents: MLB (SNES), Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run (SNES), Super R.B.I. Baseball (SNES), R.B.I. Baseball (NES), R.B.I. Baseball 3 (NES), Family Stadium (NES), Tecmo Baseball (NES) and Bad News Baseball (NES).

MLB Power pros was on ps2 and Wii in 2007 and 2008 and in Japan there was a mlb power pros 2009 only on Wii for Japan which is the only mlb baseball game not in America. There is a Japanese vita version that’s fun just not in English as well as a ps4 version and ps5 version. I think it’s on switch as well. If I were to do 10 baseball games on 10 consoles it would be tough to go unique. You can also find Japanese power pro games on n64 that are a lot of fun to play. In no particular order here are 16 baseball games on 16 consoles with me doing my best not to repeat a series and I have to own it. 1. All star baseball 2004 - GameCube 2. Backyard baseball - ps2 3. Bad news baseball - nes ( I like dusty diamond more but it’s softball not baseball) 4. The bigs 2 - ps3 5. Tony Larussa baseball - sega genesis 6. High heat baseball 2002 - ps1 7. Inside pitch 2003 - Xbox 8. Ken Griffey slugfest - n64 9. MLB power pros 2008 - Wii ( prefer ps2 version though) 10. MLB 2k10 - Xbox 360 11. MLB the show 24 - ps5 12. Super mega baseball 4 - ps4 13. 3d baseball but prefer World Series baseball 98 - Saturn 14. Super bases loaded 2 - snes (baseball sim 1.000 a close second) 15. MLBpa baseball - game gear 16. World Series baseball 2k2 - Dreamcast I play the neo geo2020 super baseball on ps5 as well as the baseball stars titles . But I already selected a game on ps5. Other good baseball games that are fun would be home run king on GameCube.
