Two important things to keep in mind about selling your game (or anything really) is that people almost never buy anything for full price. If you're asking 10$ then market it for 15$ with a frequent 30% discount. (You'll end up selling it for 10.5$) Another is that people will spend 1$ to save 50 cents. They will wait for sales even if it's 10%. Best of luck to you!
@_V3X3D
@_V3X3D Жыл бұрын
Hey, leaving a reply to say that this even works for game assets. I learned quite quickly you always over price, and then bring that down with a sale. It is a fine balance but not too fine. People like getting a deal, even if it is just the idea of getting a deal. Cheers!

Yay finally you're back, amazing stuff only one thing I noticed at 1:01 that the dog rotation is instant in my opinion the dog should have the same paper rotation just like the player to make it feel like it belongs to the same world : ) I'd like to know what do you think about that ?

Yep! Planning to do that for all characters, just didn’t have time for it this video so I had to hack a few things together. Usually game devs do most of the mechanics before the visual stuff, but since I make videos I have to do it a bit backwards :]

About the secrets. I think you should give some indication of where they would be because its not fun to run into any wall that find throughout the entire game. Maybe make it so they always have a 1 tree indent that observable people can figure out.

Tiny tip i have for the dog animation: make the sitting animation "slower". Like for example the standing animation could be 0.3 seconds per frame but you could make the sitting animation 0.5. This would make it look like the dog is resting more and breathing slower when it sits down and it would look more lively. I dont know if you think its a good idea but i just wanted to tell that.

I am in college Year 1 of Level 3 Games Design. Cannot wait to get started to creating games soon. I'm wanting to be a level designer but I also see coding pretty cool but I don't think I would like to turn it into a career. That is too much pain and effort for me lmao. I tried python and when something went wrong in the code it took me like an hour of ripping my hair out to finally figure out what was wrong . Definitely going to take some inspiration from your game and some others as this is really cool and I love the art concept. I'm doing a side-scrolling game at the moment for my course so this fits in to my category pretty well.

I would recommend pursuing a job after you graduate. Yes, you want to do game development full time, but the security offered by employment will allow you the stability to do gamedev in your spare time, get the game finished a little slower, and then see how it sells before deciding what's next. If it doesn't sell (and games sales are a crapshoot regardless of quality) having that job will allow you to try again with the next game. Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

Hey, nice update ! If you're looking to add music to your game but are tight on budget, i may help you : I'm an amateur composer very willing to work on video-games (and maybe become semi-pro one day), but with few experience, except for a game-jam (i worked with a few singers and rappers as a beatmaker, and make music for my own pleasure since 8 years, but this is ofc different). Since i'm less experienced than a pro, I'm totally willing to get paid under usual rates (i could also make a simple "demo track" for you for free, in order to see if we match well). Do you want me to said an email so we can discuss this, or do you prefer to think about hiring someone later in development (or work with someone else) ? I'm not saying this because I think I'm the best or anything, but my aesthetic of choice in sound design and composition would work well with your game in my opinion (if that wasn't the case i wouldn't comment this)
