Very interesting to here your thoughts on your own images. Thank you for sharing. I think doing this exercise with like minded people in the field, as you did with Mike, can even emphasis this approach. But getting connected to these people can be a challenge in the area you live in (depending on country, city vs. country side etc.). Btw love your eBook :)

Thank you so much dude! Really appreciate all of those kind words. Whilst I agree, it can be quite lonely (I only found friends recently lol) the internet is a great place to connect with people. If there are any photos you'd like me to review, send them over :)

@@JamesParsons1 thank you very much for your offer! I’m just reignited my use of my M9 thanks to my Cron 50mm lens and shoot a lot with that combo right now. Might reach out to you in the near future :) Thanks again for the offer 🙏

Bird boy and blue photos were really sick! Interesting to hear your self analysis. I would have loved to get a a short breakdown of how they were captured and edited as well.

Thank you so much! I'm glad that the videos leave you feeling inspired and motivated. I think the DNA of the fuji cameras is similar across the board, and you are going to have a great time no matter what you choose!

I might over critique my photographs in that I delete most of them. Despite photographing since 1979 I only have around 30 photographs that I’m prepared to show anyone else. That aside, my intention is to enjoy my photography. There is a tenuous link between that and getting better but it means the 10,000 hours doesn’t apply.

Hey Ian - That is a crazy amount of photos! Buuuut, I guess it means all of your photos you are genuinely super proud of and are likely of a very high standard. I think the social media world has cursed my mind in that I feel like I always have to be posting

If you shoot at 20fps you can get there after only 500 images! 😜

I'd argue that street photography by it's very nature is historically snapshot photography the vast majority of the time. And for me that isn't dumbing it down at all. The skills being in being aware of what is going on and how scenes develop and being quick enough to capture the image relatively undiscovered. As well as the hours and hours of work put in to find these gems. Composition and storytelling to some degree take a backseat when you're looking for moments. Especially if you're a hunter rather than a fisher. Just curious if you think 1 is not that good considering it's 1 out of 5. And 1 being defined as a snapshot. Let's take for instance Matt Stuart's Driving Dog. I think by his own admission, taken on a point and shoot on the way to the shops. Split second to take the shot. Snapshot. Is this rated 1. Please don't read this like I'm having a go, I'm really not. But just worth discussing really. 😁😁😁

I think we are crossing wires here about the term snapshot. The definition of a 1 star image is that anyone could have taken the photo. Nothing to do with the speed of which or little preparation that goes into the image. The rating system is purely based off the image, and nothing to do with the means of acquiring the image. I agreed with you. 99% of street photos are “snapshots” in the way you described it. But Matt’s images are very calculated and deliberate with clear intention behind them. Therefore he shoots 4’s and 5’s IMO

@@JamesParsons1 ah ok well I was only basing my comment on the description of 1 star in the video being a snapshot. That's all. But yeah 'anyone could have taken it' .... 100% get that 😁. Like I said above though I wasn't having a go. I was just confused with the use of the term snapshot. Couldn't agree more re Matt Stuart's photos by the way. In no way was I playing them down. He's one of my favs and can't wait to get his book when it comes out again.
