this reminds me of "edit world" in sims 3 but with more liberty. this is exactly how a create a world tool should be like for the sims 4. this was so well thought out, fits into the game, and actually looks intuitive.

The template editor will be separate, the idea is that the few who can do the dirty work of terrain and lots placement can create templates for many other players to use in the worldbuilder system. This way as many people as possible can participate even if they don't want to use the separate tool

no it doesnt lol, in the sims 3 you could place lots and houses beside each other, and make your own functional neighborhoods, this is just decorating already made worlds lol

@@skyshea5779 as tmex stated in the comment above yours, creating new terrains that aren't based on EA templates will be possible as well (aka "your own functional neighborhoods"). i get being unimpressed and/or annoyed that EA didn't include an official CAW tool in ts4, i am too, but please don't devalue a modder's hard work to make up for what EA left out.

"it's not possible" can mean budget wise because when the dev work on this they don't work on other things. They don't plan an World editor during the developpement so it's take more time to properly implant it and even if the dev wants... EA don't because it's a feture that dont worse the investement for them. Yeah EA sucks, but's it's not the competence of the dev the problems.

no no no EA has always been able to do this and have chosen not to, they have way easier tools to do this actually. EA should def not hire modders like this because they wouldnt be able to actually release the content so its 500000 times better that hes in charge of his own stuff

They don't... If we don't have a world builder it's not because dev don't know how to make this but because EA don't want that they work on it because it's not a good investment for them so it'll be a nonsense to hire someone for this. Of course the devs can do this if EA give them the time.

​​​@@Fanriya As a game dev, this mod looks* like it's mostly just using existing mechanics and the transform component (going by Unity Engine logic). It also implements some quality of life changes. This means that it's incredibly simple. I don't think the developers would have a hard time making something like this in their team. I think it's a design choice, as you implied. The executives don't want it in the game, as a style, a design.

The mod is not available to the public yet, guys. It's still in alpha and will be made free when it's stable enough to take out of alpha. Stop disparaging TwistedMexi, his creations are incredible and always free once they're safe. If you don't like it go make your own version of the mod---which you won't, because it's difficult. And he's doing all this work on it FOR FREE. Cut the entitlement.

Actually…. 🤓 👆 They’re the ones breaking EAs terms of service. Mods can only be behind a paywall for 3 weeks, beyond the 3 week period piracy allowed. Luckily it’s very easy to find the mod for free reuploaded elsewhere.

Sims 4 has that feature that the map you select locations on is mostly a 2D drawing, and I know you intend to make the additional program to let you change lots and terrain, which would mean that the original map couldn’t be used to select lots. Do you already have an idea on how you’re going to remedy that with the more customized worlds? I’m not a modder, but I’m actually a game developer working at an indie studio (art department, not programming but my girlfriend is a programmer), I have a degree in game art and worked with programmers for most of my time in college; this is one of the most impressive mods I’ve seen in a long time, and I’m especially impressed by your commitment to also make the mods accessible. I’m super excited to see more!

Yes, if you look at when I first enter the template world, you can see all the backdrops are gone. The mountains were placed by the player.

I don't know if anyone asked this, but does editing the infrastructure in the worlds sound possible on the technical level for some future update? Infrastructure meaning railroads, transit systems (like tram lines), roads, bridges? I know this is likely tied in to something within the engine, since cars, trams and all that need to be moving along there, but I would really love it if this was a real possibility.

I think it would be great if you could locate playable properties on the maps.. so if I wanted more properties from which to play with, I could add more, or one of the creators could add more.. Would love to see someone create the land of Egypt with old Egyptian buildings, Pyramids and many of the Egyptian buildings we have all come to know and like.. and you know what would be really cool TM? being able to travel via a river on a boat and when you get to the edge of that map on the boat, it would open up in the next loading screen, still on the boat just at the other edge of the new town on the map.. so you could continue your journey down the river.. and it would be nice when coming to the edge of maps that it might get you into another area altogether.. like traveling to the edge of Willow Creek would pop you out in say Del Sol Valley.. or any other location on the different areas we have to play in.. and would it not be great to have automobiles again in the game where you click on it and your sim gets inside and it goes to where you tell it to go.. The Sims game itself is so far behind in real play-ability. Or you drive to an airport and you fly into another area.. the plane leaves one screen and opens up the next and it lands.. and you get out and rent a car or pull one out of your inventory and drive to where you want to go on that map.. but I doubt EA will ever do it.. so once again, even something like this, a modder would have to do him or herself. But I am not going to be holding my breath..

Everytime I try to open the new worlds that we build on it just shows a blank white screen I can't see anything, I would have to exit back to the main menu or close my game. How do I fix this, and it's doing this for every world and household.

Probably have a conflicting mod in like TOOL or Clean UI. If you can't locate the cause, rename your mods folder and make a new one with just a FRESH copy of CAW in. Reinstall in-game.

Lot placement and terrain changes will be done in the template editor. That will be one of the last things added. In-game stability is the priority for now.
