Here's My Secret ADV Skills Routine So I Can Outride Jeremy

We all have that buddy. The guy that you like to lovingly 'stick it to'. For me, that guy is Jeremy. Jeremy has recently purchased a starter ADV bike, and I knew I needed to up my skills game.
After attending a Level 1 class offered by West 38 Moto, I was feeling really good. Good enough, and confident enough to not practice the bread-and-butter skills for an entire year, choosing instead to 'practice on the trail'.
So, here I am... practicing and progressing to make sure when I ride with Jeremy again...he will know I mean business.
My skills practice is all about low-speed work. Slow circles in both directions make up the bulk of my control time. Then I decided to add some Rolling Mount and Dismount practice to really pump the 'sizzle' up.

🤔Do you practice your ADV skills regularly? If so, what does your practice routine look like?

Great content. Yea man I don't practice either. Keep telling myself to do it but I am a procrastinator. I need to practice as I am completely turn "retarded". Yea I know not a PC term but, a factual real description of my lack of ability. As you are out there getting it done, I have been shamed now lol. You are going to become my Jeremy lol. I wish I had a parking lot like that to practice on, still looking for one close by that is not on private property or next to a busy street. Don't want the interruption or maybe the shame of people stopping and asking if I am ok. Generally speaking, I am more confident turning right. but still don't turn my head enough in the correct direction. I find myself looking the opposite way I am turning. To my left when I turn right and to the right when I turn left. I don't look down though. This is because I have ridden to many years on the CITY streets and always looking for the car that will come out of nowhere and get ne from the side or behind. Difficult habit for me to break. Thanks Sir.

@@rollyman3754 I had been scouting for a good practice area for a bit. None are perfect, but this one works pretty well. Find something reasonable and hit it! I'm glad I did, and once I got the first session out of the way, the follow-ups are easier. Ride safe man! And practice, practice, practice.

I also did a class and then proceeded to … never practice. And it showed when I went back out. Good motivator to get out there! (and you’ll never be better than me)

Have fun! It's a 'full commit' move, which took me a bit to get ready to do. Also, don't try and transition to sitting right-away. I was doing that, and just getting on and standing is: a- easier b- the right way to do it

Nice, you practice that already makes you a winner and better than 99% of riders in my book. How do you like suspension on Tuareg, is it comfortable and soak potholes nicely? Cheers;

Thanks! Practice ‘til it’s boring! So far, I like the suspension…but I’m always curious and like to tinker with stuff. I may try a suspension upgrade, but by no means do I think it’s necessary.

Is that the stock skid plate or aftermarket? Enjoy your videos, will be purchasing a Tuareg in the next month?
@exploready
@exploready 3 ай бұрын
That was an aftermarket plate (the gpmucci thor skid plate). It was big and burly, but there were a few of the welds on it that weren't super great. I'd probably look at a camel adv or something along those lines if I was doing it again.

Practice makes it perfect. Good job. Easier to handle than your PanAm right? 😅

Efixe- yes, I find it easier. I’m sure there are much better riders than I, but so far I am really enjoying the Tuareg.

Thanks for the good video. What do you think on your red engin plate? Can you still replace the oil and oil filter with easy access? @exploready
@exploready
@exploready Жыл бұрын
I just did an oil change the other day. I removed the skid plate (6 bolts), and I don't think I'd be able to change the oil with the skid plate on...without making a huge mess. One side note, when you remove the oil filter, oil will drip down onto a wire harness/sensor. It would be a good idea to fit a paper plate or something under the oil filter to direct the oil out and away from the harness. Skid plat has been good so far, but I'll get a better chance to test it when some of the high passes in Colorado open up. Thanks Austin - Ride Safe!
