These are some valuable pieces of advice. Also I agree with the fact that PS4 network testing isn't accurate, don't bother yourself with that, it's on Sony's side. For downloading, I guess you will have to use whatever speed you get and for gaming as long as your download speed is above 6mbps and upload speed is above 1mbps then you are fine. Also it's good to mention that some routers (especially those gateways given by ISP) will not be good for gaming and they're usually the issue in your network. A decent router should do the job.

Hey Glasscock. I own a cox panoramic WiFi gateway and a Nighthawk r6700 router. I am able to switch it to another cox approved one. Do you suggest that I get the Arris SB6190 or the Netgear CM700? Trying to do QOS but the cox gateway doesn’t support that and my PS4 is suffering from sharing with 8-9 devices connected to my gateway at a time. No it won’t be better except your current model is on low performance (like only single core instead of dual). If you pay for 100MBit, then you only get 100MBit at max. It doesn’t matter what router is connected to your ISP. Your router only matters when you have heavy amount of traffics and your router can’t handle all packages in shortest time. So any „gaming router“ is just something you don’t need it. Waste of money for a slogan that never works. Those gaming router have such QoS and other feature that have any normal (non private) router out of box

If you live in the country or far away from the ISP box that will affect your speed as well. I live in the country so I get around 4.3mbps but if I go to the city where my brother and cousins live, I get around 20-30 mbps.

Hey man try updating the software on your router or modem. Try restoring original settings on the PlayStation 4. Also try rebuilding database. Just press and hold the power button until it beeps twice then I will go into the safe mode and make your selections from there. Also try power cycling and leaving it off for more than 5 minutes. Make sure your Ethernet cables are properly rated for the speeds you're using, Cat5e or higher should be sufficient for most people all my cables are Cat6 but be careful I don't think some cables are regulated like I wouldn't buy Cat8 I'd go with Cat6 or Cat6a

I hav entries everything the way spectrum works as explained by a tech it won’t allow you to chose 2.4 or 5 it does it for you so if you have a console that’s not right next to the modem it’s going to go to 2.4. I’ve even tried all these things that he suggested and I can’t get over 100 mbps even though I pay spectrum for 600 mbps. I put my Xbox in the sam esport and easily get 300+ mbps I think it’s just PlayStation issues! Good luck man if you find something or figure something out let me know!

Hey, I have a question, the router I get from my isp I cannot put into modem mode it doesn’t have that option, I’m from the UK and it’s adsl 76/20 so how would I use the gaming nighthawk

See if you can put the modem in bridge mode. This will allow your router to do network routing, the modem will simply do the network handshake (ie allow you access to your ISP)

IDK is it with me or not but wifi and ethernet cable speed tests are same for me no change at all or maybe ethernet cable problem IDK anyway awesome tips and keep it up

You should try changing your DNS settings while using an ethernet cord and it should make your internet faster

Sometimes it may not increase speeds but it keeps the speed. More consistent and stable

@@captainwafer7965 My ISP has already assigned google dns with the router so it is avalible for all devices also i checked with dns benchmark test software and it said all good bro nothing to change

wired connection is gonna fix all of your lagging problems .. recently I've bought a 10m Ethernet cable & it saved my life XD

On the 1000mbps fiber internet , if I’m using my pc will the wifi itself be like 500 down and up until I plug in the Ethernet then it will be 1000 up and down
