THIS Is How To Get NAT Type 1 On PlayStation 4 - REALLY Improve Internet Ping and Lag!

Many have asked me about this, and I'm so happy to finally be releasing this video. Today I share with you my experience on how I was able to get that highly praised NAT Type 1 connection from the PlayStation 4. What I love about NAT Type 1, as opposed to Type 2 or 3, is that this setting update has substantially improved my multiplayer connection stability in massive online gameplay, such as in Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone. Just a sidenote since I work at tech support in my local ISP.. after following these great instructions on how to get Nat Type 1.. if you do all these steps and still have Nat Type 3 you have to call your tech support of your ISP and you can request disabling private IP adress or turning the CGNat off. After that you can check your Nat Type and if It's type 2 then you are good to go with these instructions in order to get type 1.

NAT TYPE 2 is still the recommended configuration for you to have best of both worlds, security and bandwidth latency. If you do not know the acronym of NAT type, your should probably research more and educate yourself on the implication of opening your device to a public address.

Hi I’m on PS5 using an Xfinity router (the singular black box they give by default) I disabled my security entirely on the routers firewall via pc but I still can’t get to type 1 NAT? i was looking for DMZ options on pc but it sends me to the app and I didn’t see it anywhere on the app. I also reset a bunch of times between this to be sure. Any clue what I might be missing? I’m NAT type 2 currently and also was wondering if I turned off my wifi entirely would it make my ethernet cable connection more stable?

Some Routers lacks settings that do not offer NAT switching options. And it may take forever for your internet provider to make the adjustments (over the phone for me). Also you can find a simpler form of your PS4 information in System> System Information.

Hey John! I followed your steps and enabled DMZ for my PS4's IP address but when I test my connection, Im still showing NAT type 2. I did add port information to my PS4's IP prior, would that prevent the NAT type from changing?

Okay so, if Nat 1 makes you more, "public" does that by proxy make you prone to hacking? If yes, then does a VPN account (like Nord or whatever ect.) solve this issue or would it still not matter?

For a gaming application like the PlayStation it won't make a difference. I have never experienced any issues, nor observed anyone else ever having issues, as a result of having an Open NAT (Type 1) on the PSN.

You should definitely try it, as it was able to help my online connection tremendously. If for some reason changing the NAT settings doesn't make a noticeable difference, you can always change it back to the default. Regardless of setting, it's super important to keep testing these various options so that you can create the absolute best connection for your specific PlayStation internet setup.

So I have fios as my isp, and its shows that my ps4 isnt shown as one of the devices that I can access with ease like yours. You should be able to see a list of all the devices that are currently connected to your network. Are you sure your PS4 is powered on and running when you pull the device list under your ISP settings? If not, I would contact Fios directly as they can help forward and open the NAT for you

This is a really good question: as far as I know, in order to allow the PlayStation to go into NAT 1 through your router is to log in (via IP address in a browser) or if there’s an application that allows you to change router settings through a mobile device. I haven’t found a way to get NAT 1 by adjusting settings directly from the PlayStation yet

NAT type changes how open your connection is to the PSN. A more open connection allows you to find more users, and therefore a more optimal match, to join so that matchmaking yields the lowest ping and lag.
