I totally get what you’re saying and doing, but I’m watching you cut off perfectly good tomatoes so I’m sort of curious would it be best to go in and selectively pick the branches so you’re not cutting off branches that lead to these precious tomatoes?

Your tomato plants are so huge. I never allow mine to get so big. I keep them cut back. I cut out all the suckers and all the long growth and I get huge amounts of tomatoes.

Your garden looks gorgeous!! I am switching to metal garden beds bcs the one ( my first experiment) is falling apart. Ugh! Could it be that yours are more expensive/ better quality? May I get your opinion, please? Thanks .
@WyseGuideАй бұрын
It's important to use the right type of wood. Cedar works best because it is naturally rot resistant. Since these planks are touching lots of dirt, it also means lots of moisture. Cedar handles that well. Also be sure to have plenty of supports along the length of the bed. Dirty is heavy and exerts lots of force on the beds! For more info about my beds, you can check out my website: www.wyseguide.com/make-raised-garden-beds/#:~:text=Raised%20garden%20beds%20are%20the%20best%20way%20to%20grow%20veggies!

Can you please show us how to make plant containers? ?? Don’t they need holes in them. I’ve seen my family make holes in everyone of our planters.
@annelygermaine7874Ай бұрын
Word of caution: when you expose tomatoes to full sun suddenly, they can get sun scald - just like humans can be ‘fried’ and you can lose quite a bit of fruit.
@loloholmes2793Ай бұрын
Prune them from the start and continue pinching all summer and you won't need to make such drastic cuts.

It looks like you’re growing indeterminate tomatoes. Thus, all the new tomatoes are growing on the new vine. Looks like to me, you’re removing the new growth, therefore the remaining tomatoes. Have I missed something?
@WyseGuideАй бұрын
Hi Mary! Yes I grow indeterminate tomatoes and you are correct they continue to grow and produce more blooms. Since I live in a cold climate we will have a hard freeze in October that will end the tomato season. The plants continually give more blooms but don’t have much time left cutting them back and exposing the larger unripened fruit allow the energy to stop going into growing and finish ripening what is left after trimming.
