I thought a company called Mullen was selling a bunch of remaining leftover codas. Not sure what happened to that.

Fascinating introduction to this lost brand of EV. Thank you. This car is a wonderful time capsule at the start of the second era of EV’s and just look what’s happened in the last decade.

Kyle says it's a generic design, but it's pretty clearly a typical Chinese copy of a mid-2000s Mercedes E/C-Class.

I would love to see a video series of Dave, Kathy & Bailey "road tripping" the Coda from Connecticut to their Florida condo. 😁😁😁

I would drive one. For sure. Especially for $1.00. Better than walking.

Yes, when I test drove a Coda 11 years ago, it was obvious that it was "plain vanilla" on the outside (with an old Mitsubishi Lancer body) and the inside. I wonder if this one retained the odd power/regen gauge in my test drive model. Its needle showed when the Code is drawing power (a red zone on the left) and putting it back in (a green zone on the right). All other EVs that I have driven indicate the energy usage in the opposite direction. I wonder if you could find more energy dense batteries for this vintage EV and double its range…? Maybe.

there is nothing Mitsubishi Lancer about that body.

I think LiFePO4 cars are going to age much better as we move forward... Calendar age seems to be quite rough on NMCs, especially when you have so many cells to keep balanced and stuff. Yes there are some smarts to help, but we're already seeing quite a few issues with early Teslas and their batteries, we'll see after 15-20 years. Going to be pretty sad if Model 3s just start falling off after 10-15 years with prohibitively expensive battery failures out of warranty.

batteries should come down in price and more people should have knowledge how to fix them with more EVs on the road... then again Tesla doing structural batteries does not bode that well to repairing them cheap, if it was a system like NIO has with easily swappable batteries, it might be possible that a robot could take it out and repair if needed, it could be rather cheap... Maybe with next gen Tesla we will see the machine that builds the machine and then the machine will be also able to quickly repair the machine if needed

As a Tesla owner today, Coda was very appealing to me back in the day. I believe the demise of Coda was warranty.

They are taking today's prices and lowering them due to inflation to guess how much it might have cost, but actually it just shows how far the EVs have come that despite the inflation and so many years that have passed you can today buy a much better EV for a lower price (not counting inflation) than what Coda was sold for back then... or even Leaf. In Europe you can get MG4 which is in all the ways superior than original Leaf for less today in 2024 than it cost in 2011, without any incentives. Even Model 3 I think is around the same price they sold original Leaf for back in 2011
