I should have known I had religious trauma… everytime my mom said “do you want to go to church with me” I said no because I felt so judged, alone, and so much anxiety when I was there. My mom would gaslight me and manipulate me into going each time even today. But I’m strong enough to stand up for myself when she asks me.

I was involved in legalistic and fundamental southern Baptist church. When I wanted to go to a denominational church I felt I needed to write a letter to Baptist minister explaining everything because I was feeling guilty when wanting to go to the new church.
