As a recap, meditation buys you a moment before you think... and for someone like me who REALLY identified with my thoughts, I eventually realized I don't have to always react to them. I'm able to let the emotion flow through me without clinging on to it which is especially great when I'm driving 😅 Also, I didn't talk much about guided meditations in the video, however I am a fan. I often listen to Mooji, or Rupert Spira as I'm vibing with Non-duality at the moment. I hope to create discussion in the comments about some of the best Guided meditations out there. I have listened to Sam Harris, Tara Brach, and of course Eckhart Tolle. They are all great! Please share any of your favourites. I do also like Sahdguru though I'm partial to his name 😆

I love making videos like this and hope to make many more. It doesn't seem to be catching on in the algorithm which is a bummer, but, as there are some people (like you) who appreciate it I will continue to make them 👊 Thanks for your support! Really appreciate it.

Fantastic description, amazing that your teaching it to your kids too! I've always been a MASSIVE over thinker and had kept me in my head instead of potentially moving forward with certain ambitions /goals etc. Meditation when i discovered Vipassana (which is essentially just a meditation on either the breath or to note what the thoughts are which come up every 5-10 seconds etc) eg. 'image', 'talk' or 'other' feeling. This Helped me tremendously and the thoughts/overthinking gradually dissipated. It was as if someone had lifted a tunnel vision helmet from my consciousness and i could see, feel and positively react and benefit from the natural flow & essence of the energy plain we live in ;-)

Amazing! Can you expand a little on the noting the "'image', 'talk' or 'other' feeling."? While I am better I'm still struggling here and there with a few pesky thoughts (samskaras) I'm having a hard time shedding. If you have any books or KZbin vids too I'm always interested to learn! Appreciate the comment :)

I relate so much to this. I stopped drinking last September and it's started me on a path of calming down and changing my behavior. Practice makes perfect or we can strive for perfection anyway

Thanks for the comment 👊 how did you get into meditation? Was it a book or a talk that inspired and helped you learn? I'm always curious what others do. I go through phases with it and always seem much more content when I do it regularly.

Awesome vid. I like the breakdown on the benefits being practical not mystical. 🎉

Thanks! Going down this path has given me a new respect for religion... but I don't think it's necessary to reap the benefits of meditation or even mindfulness. I can't wait to keep going though... see where I end up! Alone in a cave in mountains with no food and water for 3 days?? 🤣

Being a Christian, after I learned to reliably do mindfulness meditation focusing on the breath; I started adding the Jesus prayer to focus on as I breathe. 🧘

You know after reading Michael Singers books and learning more about all of this, I have a new appreciate for Christianity and religion in general. I get it. I would say my philosophy is very similar. I just use different words but the meaning behind them is the exact same. 👊

Great video. I've meditated on and off for years. Currently on day 9 of getting back in the habit. Also doing a 30 day monrning practice. :) You're bang on about breathe being a powerful key. My 30 day practice is a breathwork practice. I really enjoy it. Feels more active and keep sthe monkey mind at bay.

Thanks for watching! Oof my monkey mind has been very active lately, and after this video it started going bananas! What kind of meditation do you do? Have you read any good books on it or watched any good vids? I'm still learning and haven't quite nailed the exact type of meditation I think works best for me yet... but I do benefit from just breathe work. My uncle does a very active meditation and I'd like to try that sometime but don't really know where to start.

Wow, you managed to pack so many important thoughts into nine minutes. When I started meditating back in the 60s (yep, I'm that old) one skill I was taught was to visualize my breath as it goes in and out, and when a thought intrudes don't try to stop it, just let it pass through. Oh, and I too am a follower of Eckhart Tolle.

Thank you for the comment. I really appreciate it. I'm still a small KZbinr and when I create videos like this, it doesn't really grow my channel... but I still go through the effort because I'm passionate about it, and if it helps just one person become curious about it or sparks conversations in peoples lives then I'm grateful. Do you have any other people who have influenced your life that you enjoy their work?

Haha right? If you know, you know! I loved his next book even more but I figure I'd start people from the beginning and if they love it they can discover it on their own.

Hi, I really appreciate your videos and your ideas, I wanted to ask you if you still suffer from GERD? Since I suffer from it too and after that I changed everything in regard to diet and behaviours I understood that is more influenced by my mind and my thoughts.
@TheSAHDLife

Thanks for your comment! I am very happy to say NO I do not suffer from GERD anymore. I can eat and drink whatever I want now.... FINALLY! With that being said, there are times where I will have discomfort if I'm being an idiot, like if I have a huge meal at 9pm then drink a bunch of big beers for example... but as long as I follow my own advice I am just fine. And yes, symptoms from stress and thinking too much come out in so many types of random ways... I am still working on it, but when I am able to take care of my body and mind things seem to resolve themselves. It's hard to stay on the path sometimes though.

Well, you definitely have great scenic environments to expand your meditation! I'll give it a whirl myself, Mr. Spock. Live Long and Prosper! Btw, not sure if you heard this appropriate joke, What did the Zen Monk say to the Hot Dog Vendor?............."Make me one with everything."

I love that! Good share. And yes having such beautiful nature around is just such a blessing... it's taken us quite a long time to get here but it was my goal in life to be near the water, and I'm grateful every second I get to be there. I just find it so healing. I'm glad I sparked curiosity in you. I can't wait to delve deeper into this world myself but was just so excited with my results I had to share. 👊

Hi there :) Good question. No. I don't use any apps. I do have a few podcasts that I follow though. Also, I'm a HUGE fan of Michael Singer... he has a podcast which is great but he also shares free talks every few days on his website (templeoftheuniverse) which work just fine on mobile. I also love listening to (sometimes just on KZbin) Rupert Spira (his podcast is good too. Very smart dude), the NonDuality Podcast, Mooji, and sometimes Eckhart Tolle. What have you been using/doing so far?
