Hi there! I have been watching your videos for a while now. I truly appreciate how much you have shared about how to do an online business! I left my full time job in Nov to start my own business. Things have been slow although I have been able to get jobs and maintain an income, I haven't really established the business the way I have wanted to. I think I have hesitated because of a lack of confidence and overwhelming myself by maybe watching too many videos on how to do it and not actually just jumping in to start. I am an Indigenous person working in education. I wish to assist both Indigenous and non-Indigenous educators to increase the Indigenous content in all areas of curriculum in an authentic and genuine way.

Hi Gillian, I first want to just thank you for your channel and your teaching. The sincerity and authenticity is what has made me a fan of your's after watching many others on KZbin. I am starting completely over after I went all in on a dream of mine. Retiring from the military and resigning my federal job to pursue my dream. Some unfortunate events, some bad decisions and lack of capital is what landed me where I'm at now. Having just filed bankruptcy and starting over. So I appreciate your ideas on this topic. I wanted to let you know that your content has an impact and is helping me and I'm sure thousands of others. Keep up the great work! Scott

I am planning to create food related content for Social Media focusing on YT. So far, I got a basic DSLR, Mic, light, Laptop to edit, Purchased editing software, bought almost all necessary cooking equipment, converted my bedroom into studio, registered domain and started a website, registered for Affiliate marketing, also strategized how I go about starting this and generate more traffic.... Only thing left is to create channel and SM accounts and start shooting, editing and side hustling.... I have full time job, I saved up to get whatever is required to start this journey, hope it works out.... Love your videos and inputs

This video is so helpful! My family kind of has lost everything. My husband was a pastor and a difficult situation with our family resulted in him stepping away from ministry and we are trying to get on our feet again. I'm a dance teacher and am looking to start an online business teaching dance classes online. This video has given me a clear outline of how to get started! (Also a homeschooling mom here!) Thank you for putting out all this helpful content.

Here's my introduction: I'm Cory. 29.597 years old. Trying not to freak out too much about turning 30 and feeling like I haven't pursued my dreams hard enough. I'm a computer programmer, interested in copywriting, pursuing a cybersecurity certifcation(the OSCP). I've got some money saved so I don't think working a basic job is a good use of my time. I'd rather finally get my entrepreneurial dreams off the ground. If anyone wants to discuss ideas, hold each other accountable, message me. Thanks Gillian.

Ms. Perkins, I'm not sure how I came across your video, but I'm glad I did. I just lost my job while on personal leave. They sent me an email a few day before my return to work to say thanks, but your services are no longer needed. I have not lost everything, but I don't want to wait until I use up my resources. Regarding live workshops, would you allow Q&A since you would be using Zoom and how would you figure out a fair price?

I’m fairly certain that many viewers would like to know one thing. Many of us do not have the connections you assumed you’d have in this exercise. The point of this thought experiment isn’t how you yourself are going to pull your personal finances back together. It’s literally designed to inform the people who have no connects on what they can do with the information you’ve learned. They want to know things like, “I learned that x actually meant z, which nobody taught me in school.” To be searching for inspiration, to be desperately grasping for the ledge above you, it is soul-crushingly painful to hear so many successful people say, “Uh, just polish that CV and call everyone you know.” It quite literally tells me that unless you know someone, you might as well just get a job in fast food, buy an xbox and evaporate into the ether, leaving no trace of my soul upon the fabric of this plane. Okay then. Message received for the 100th time. Finally received. In all good consciousness, I can’t downvote this video for yet again spilling a dossier of glossy, hi-res photos on my lap of the door that sits between myself and success. It’s a lesson, and a good one at that. Your video isn’t meant to help anyone coming from the bottom, but I can’t believe it’s only content designed to grow your channel. That would be resentful and petty, two emotions I already possess an excess amount of. I’ll simply smile politely, apologize for sitting in on a conversation meant for the upper crust, and retreat to my mad scientist lair, where I shall figure out another way to change my stars. Friends and acquaintances. Hm. What even is that?

If it gets traction enough, I'll invest in my own website to do custom work as well, but I'll see where the journey takes me ^^

I have recently been working on my life to automate all the adulting things to make time for what I want to do. I'm in my 50's and no longer work. I left everything and moved across the country to help out my daughter and her family. With this new journey I'm on, I thought it would be good to document the process and help people with the same issue. I do need this to make money but I know it will take a while. But I have also started my own side hustle with travel-related content. Thanks for this Gillian! Definitely helpful as my husband and I are just beginning our second year of two businesses we started last year. We've honestly been scraping by (no time for other jobs and two small children at home), so we have chosen to really focus 90% of our time in 2022 on our online tutoring business: improving systems, generating traffic, and hopefully transitioning from serving individual clients to launching group classes and online courses. It is a grueling 50+ hours per week from me and 15+ for my husband (he's a full-time master's degree student as well). However, your videos this week and last week have opened our eyes to some blind spots in writing articles for video content, focusing on one social media platform, and launching a website as soon as possible to showcase our expertise. We'd love to get off of the Upwork and Wyzant carousal ASAP. Thank you for your ever thoughtful and engaging content!

Great video Gillian! Re my story - I started writing a course on a method of helping people (counseling, therapy, life coaching) 2 years ago but somehow find it diffucult to move it forward. At first I was biased about the avatar (anyone interested /intro to the method vs aimed at professionals which is a narrower circle yet they might be willing to invest more). A good thing was to create a google form with a survey, a few people who found it through my vlog answers within 1 year (professionals). And most of then prefer the on-demand version and also shorter training. I suppose it is easier to give it a test ride and get started. However I think it is important to get some basics first. Anyways, I'd like to finish and release the pilot version at least within 2 months.

Hi Gullian, Great content. It's a content related to the exact problem I'm stuck with. Thank you very much for this content. I provide Digital Advertising consultancy services to Businesses. I manage ads for small businesses. It's been 6 months, I'm in the preparation phase of an online training, I tried different things and failed. (I tried the last webinar, free content, free e-book, few different attempts with funnel) I failed all of them. What you tell in this video is really great, I'm asking to make sure: we tested education ideas with paid workshops before deciding on online education. When we evaluate the demands and decide on the subject of the first course, while creating a pre-demand for the course, should we package the course and put it up for sale on a teachable platform? Or should we deliver the course live at a place like Zoom when we first create it?
@roxypianolessons2 жыл бұрын
If I had to start again, I wouldn't have a website! But now I have to decide where to put my courses. I was going to put the lessons (210 piano lessons) on Teachable, but then I was told I'd have to use the more expensive plan (somewhere around $1,200), pay Zapier $10 each month and integrate it with Sam Cart ($950 yr). Sheesh...... I'm strongly considering just using Sam Cart since I can can host my courses in there. Zapier would be included. What do you think? Is that a good plan- to use only Sam cart and get rid of my website? THANK YOU GILLIAN!
