This video helped me learn a bunch; one thing I was worried about were ECs and APs (my school offers very little AP classes, but it's a charter school and they offer online college classes). My region is relatively small too so letting me know that I'm not gonna be put up against the best of the best gives me some relief.

Guys can we get a king chain below 🗣️ Shinwoo is actually going wild with these videos; the effort he puts into educating us mortals (jk guys we’re cool too,) is clearly evident in the production quality and magnitude of his ideas and words. I’m only in 8th grade but I appreciate Shinwoo immensely!! I’d love to support him while also deepening my academic career through his team at Inspirate, but my parents are Vietnamese. If I tell them I’m considering getting help in academics when I’m only in middle school and already doing fine without it they might beat me up 🫣 It’s okay though I’m gonna keep watching Shinwoo till I’m in 11th grade fr. By then he will probably have 10 million subscribers guys I’m calling it. Please remember me when you’re famous!! Ivy league schools are a bit overrated, the education you get there will not be much different from a regular school, and jobs don't care for them as much as people think, especially in the tech industry.

heya, this video helped me alot! im a freshman in highschool, but im a bit worried about my EC options. I'm in pretty generic clubs, and only lead one small club. I want to check out internships for something related to medicine, but there's not a lot of options if i consider both transportation (my parents refuse to send me far away) and because of my age. Any recommendations on EC's (related to medicine) i can look for?

Notre dame doesn’t require all sats so it is impossible for them to tell how many times you’ve taken it.
@sh2nu1eeАй бұрын
I don’t think a former admissions officer from Notre Dame would lie to me for no reason. Why do you say it’s impossible for them to know how many times you’ve taken them? Your records all show in collegeboard so maybe they source their info from there? Not sure on that part.

Hey! I love your content! I want to get into Harvard for a biomedical engineering and public health major. I am currently a junior in high school, and I am concerned about the lack of Ap's, and the late junior year start on all of my EC's. This happened because I immigrated from Honduras on my late freshman year and had to adjust to the educational system, etc,etc. On my sophomore year I had to work 20 hours a week to contribute to the family budget, and when our financial situation got better my parents encouraged me to stop working and pursue my passions. I am currently giving it my all on my junior year, but I am concerned they will reject me for my lack of commitment. The lack of AP's is due to most of my credits in Honduras were not accredited for high school in the U.S. What tips do you have? Do you think I can get accepted? How do I maximize my chances? THANKSSS
@mochipanda4460Ай бұрын
Don’t worry, I think you’re doing great! As Shinwoo elaborated upon in his video, the college application process in the U.S. is substantially complex. From regional admissions officers to that second but technically “first review/impression,” they will genuinely take into account your circumstance. He really put an emphasis at the end on how expressing your dedication to your dream school isn’t necessary as the work you put in and your essay will take you there. You’re doing great, don’t worry! I can tell that you are dedicated!! Don’t stress yourself out even if you don’t reach what you want in the end because rejection is redirection 🗣️ I believe in you!! 💗
@hsien-en_2007Ай бұрын
You can always explain your situation in the additional comments box. They definitely take account of this in the application process, as it is a holistic process.

I know you said on another video that it’s good to get a job, so I was wondering the job should connect to your major or passion? Like, could I just have a simple part-time at some random place?

Does doing IB as a non-US (international) student help significantly? I saw a website that displayed statistics that show top schools' acceptance rates booming for IB students, but Ik this metric is questionable.
@sh2nu1eeАй бұрын
Consider IB as an equivalent of AP / Honors courses. I'd personally argue IB courses are even tougher, but the underlying purpose is the same. It shows that you pushed yourself with the resources available to you. Take those classes if you can for sure.

@sh2nu1ee14 күн бұрын
Unless she’s aiming for MIT where they look for perfect math score, she’d be wasting time studying for it again. That 10 point difference won’t be the reason why she gets rejected (in the case that she does) 👍

Too many smart kids and not enough top schools. Twenty years ago it was a lot easier to get into these schools. Why? Because the population has increased significantly, but the number of seats at these schools stayed the same.
