A lot of people say that marching band is an bad extracurricular, but what if your highly competitive? Our marching band recently placed at grand nationals and we consistently place top 5 every year. In this instance, would it be a good extracurricular? Or should I still try and find something else

Hi! You mentioned overly generic clubs- but are there any way to boost those clubs for your application? Right now, I’m in the process of creating a key club at the school, and it’ll be the first volunteering club we have. Once I (hopefully) get members, do you have any tips to make this a little more special?
@sh2nu1ee
@sh2nu1ee 19 сағат бұрын
first ensure that your club gets members. go to club rush, put up posters, reach out to your school's social media and ask to advertise your club. Once you've done that, it's all a numbers game. The number of people you lead, the number of hours you put in, etc.

I've been watching a lot of your videos and was wondering if you could give me a few tips. I'm currently a freshman with great grades, but not any impactful extracurriculars. As of now, I think I want to go into the CS or cybersecurity field, so do you have any recommendations for me to get into top colleges. (I'm open to basically anything 🙂)
@sh2nu1ee
@sh2nu1ee 19 сағат бұрын
if you're a freshman, take the time to ACTUALLY explore. Are you saying that you want to get into CS or cybersecurity because coding looks cool? If you haven't done the actual work that goes inside CS and cybersecurity, you'd have no perspective to make a judgment. Instead of trying to commit to something head on, explore a bit and see what really sticks

@@sh2nu1ee Alright, so the reason the I want to go for a CS major is because I like problem solving and math is the one thing I understand really easy. I understand that committing early could be a bad thing, but to be unique and get into better colleges, isn't it better to show long-term commitment to something? Also, in my opinion doing a CS major with maybe like a minor in statistics, opens up a lot of opportunities that interest me. This is just one example, I could go into Data Analysis because I love numbers and have a background in CS. Thanks for your reply and insight.

this is great. thanks so much, all the time i don’t think im doing enough, but now after watching this video i feel better because im doing things on here that you’ve said will differentiate myself. I started a new job over the summer and plan to continue at very least until next school year, and am running a youtube channel where i make video essays on discussing music (how an artist can go mainstream, my opinions on albums, artist biographies, etc) and plan on trying to make a fashion video to see if i like it. I’m also in humanities honors at my school and am writing a paper I plan on turning into a video eventually. I also want to try and start a small business as part of a big project at the end of the year. again thanks so much for the reassurance

First of all thank you so much for all of the advice. I really appreciate that you tell us how to do something instead of just what to do. I do have a question regarding the activities, would you say foreign exchange are worth it? My school offers 4 months of exchange in another country however it wouldn't help with the leadership position in my current clubs (it would be for the first 4 months of sophomore year)
