Ram Power Wagon started on WW2 but reemerged in 2005, about 20yrs before the Raptor, ZR2, etc.

If I were to buy a truck, I’m surprised to think I would choose this straight six turbo. I was impressed by its quietness, smoothness, power and gas mileage. Although at $75k this isn’t going to happen any time soon! ✌️

Great presentation! When possible, please consider reviewing a Silverado Duramax High Country with the options of the suspension package and rate which Silverado rides smoother, ZR2 vs. High Country. Best, Steve from Western Mass.

Have to disagree with his fuel economy logic. I average 23 mix driving. I have the Silverado ZR2 with the Duramax. Daily commute is about 60 miles round trip. Live in Colorado and keep a roof top tent on year round. Coming from a Colorado ZR2 the fuel economy alone was definitely worth the upgrade. I’ve had a 2020 Ford Raptor with extended range 36 gallon tank. Getting superior range compared that truck with a 24 gallon tank. Think the 6.2 is a great engine option, but definitely glad I have the Duramax.

There are a lot of guys running into issues with the 6.2 too. So far the diesel has looked to be excellent. 23MPG is ridiculous with lift and tires lol. So good

You Should do a review of the Silverado High Country because those are sweet to see on the open road

Coming from a guy that drives a Tundra TRD PRO, the question is; Can I trust a freaking Chevy? Not for that kind of money, nope, don't think so. Plus, I would really miss my 38 gallon fuel tank. Beautiful truck BTW.

The big question now is, can you trust it more than the NEW Tundra's, with their twin turbo and sometimes hybrid setup...🤷‍♂️

@@EatSleepDrive The answer to your question is NO. I have zero faith in the new hybrid Tundra TRD Pro. That's why I'm keeping my 2019 PRO. That 5.7 V8 rumble just makes my day.

Great review, I'm debating if I should buy a ZR2 Bison with the diesel vs gas engine, I actually own a truck with the Duramax 3.0 L and it is a superb engine really, cannot say one negative thing about it but I’m tempted to the V8 because it's naturally aspirated, gas is easier to find than diesel, it is a proven through and through engine and cheaper to maintain. The Bison package,(I think it is called AEV package) is not cheap but very attractive to have if you do serious off-road but in my case I inescapably fall in the category of “non-off road drivers” who buy an off road vehicle “because it looks cool, feels strong”, anyway thank you for posting a concise and thorough review of this truck which for me was very helpful. Happy 4th!....question, do you think Bison's extras are worth vs regular ZR2?

I'm glad you found it helpful! I think the Bison package is neat, it's just extremely expensive. Sure if you're really planning to offroad and money not a problem spring for it. But otherwise you could probably add that Bison package stuff individually and I'm not sure you'd pay much more, if any, than buying it pre-installed. Both engines are great though. I will say living in the mountains the turbo is nice to have since it loses less power at altitude to the N/A motors.

Truck prices have gotten awfully high in recent years. But the ZR2 is a pretty fair price for what you get in the current market.

Your confused. The 6.2 uses premium. About the same as diesel. Might as well get the Diesel.

The manual itself says minimum is 87. Sure, you want every last horsepower put in 93. But 87 will run just fine in that engine.

Dealer tech at a combo Chevrolet, Cadillac, and Subaru dealership. Asked other techs about engine options before purchasing. Feedback I received is the 6.2 is more prone to engine if you are not running premium. Fuel samples are required for warranty. When there is catastrophic or litfter failure. So far the Duramax has served me well. Time will tell how it holds up. Hopefully it last and I actually have to change the wet belt.

I would go hybrid f150 for 7.2kw. Not sure why others don’t copy ford on that
