What makes a person a pathological liar? Pathological lying is defined by some experts as lying five or more times daily, every day, for longer than six months. There are different types of lying with symptoms that are similar to pathological liar signs, including habitual lying, white lying, and compulsive lying. Can a pathological liar love someone? Pathological liars lie for no apparent reason, as lying becomes ingrained in them, and telling lies may come more naturally to them than telling the truth. Although pathological liars may be able to love someone, it is often difficult for them to maintain an honest and healthy relationship. What mental illness causes pathological lying? This behavior can be part of a personality disorder such as antisocial, narcissistic, and histrionic. Other conditions, such as borderline personality disorder, may also lead to frequent lies, but these aren't considered pathological. Also, some people simply lie pathologically but have no other conditions.
