Buy giving his same testimony he has been giving for years about Cohen? Costello was Cohen's legal advisor when he was being prosecuted. He's been saying that Cohen's story is an outright lie for years. Mechan was faced with a credible witness (federal prosecutor), contradicting Cohen's whole story that his case is based on. He should have done some research. This is such a clown show. It's highly unprofessional for the judge to be working with the prosecution. It's a violation of ethics. But his TDS made him think it was a good idea to ruin his career.

The ugly reality in cases such as this, is that the key prosecution witnesses are almost always insiders who carried out criminal acts in concert with the accused. Nature of the beast. Criminal fraud trials usually involve criminal witnesses. The job of the prosecution is to provide corroborating evidence that aligns with the testimony. They clearly seem to have done that. Cohen's criminal past is no different than any other case where an underling turns state's evidence against a crime boss. Ergo, to acknowledge Cohen's criminality inescapably brings up the fact that he routinely committed his crimes as part of his employment by the defendant.
