As adaily driver in Portland Oregon of a 2018 Civic Type-R. You guys are on point with every critique in your videos. Thank you honestly for being straight forward, and non-judgmental with your reviews. I've owned 3 different STI's over the years and I absolutely love Subaru. But, they haven't really changed in years. Honda changed the game with this one. My only complaint. The infotainment system and user interface needs serious improvement.

Manual is really not that hard. My first car was a Manual. Hadn't driven one in past 20 years. Test drove an sti a few months back and it was very nice. I would suggest finding a cheap used Manual anything and learn on that. Or have a friend teach you.

+SubieFL the focus RS will be more familiar and more fun. However I think it'll start to show its age rather quickly. The Type R is based on a significantly newer platform and it really shows. The focus RS will be getting a big refresh in a few years. They're both so good though and it comes down to personal preference and price (we can get the Type R for msrp in Canada, so it's about $10k cheaper than the RS)

I just bought a Civic si coupe 2013 in great condition, and it’s amazing. I just missed my Acura rsx so bad and it was the closest thing I could get to replicate the nostalgia, even though it was automatic and trashed by previous owners. Honda is wonderful, lots of character.

What to expect - Incredible track performance, high 13 second/low 14 second drag strip performance,, tried and true honda performance tuning and fit/finish. That is the new Type R in a nutshell. Just dont buy it for straight line performance, youll be disappointed as these cars were never made for that and 100% bone stock Type R Civics only run 13.8-14.0 in the quarter and trap around 101-103mph depending on driver, basically right in line with my gutted 5 speed auto bolt on 06 Acura TL. Not bad by any means, but I think some people are expecting supercar levels of straight line performance from this car, when in fact its meant to be an ultra balanced corner cutter that walks cars with twice the horsepower on the back roads.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the dealer's added margin in these special car situations... I remember very distinctly when ford rolled out the Shelby GT500 mustang in like 2007, dealerships were adding $20k-40k on top of the MSRP (which was specific to the Shelby GT500 itself).... That's pure mark-up by dealerships just because it was perceived to be an extremely special example (given there were no true GT500s since '69/'70).
