Pocket knife collector here.🙂 Your blade scales are made from G10; a compressed glass fiber laminate. It's a very common material for knife handles because it can be machined, is grippy, nice to the touch, sturdy and resistant to heat and chemicals. When it isn't dyed, it has the semi-translucent green colour your knife scales have. This is usually called 'natural G10' or 'jade G10'. "Chinese made" (although true) doesn't do blades made by Kizer justice; it isn't AliExpress quality. It's a well known brand among knife collectors and they produce designs from renowned pocket knife designers. When it comes to materials, fit and finish and quality, Kizer can easily compete with nearly all western production facilities.

That lighter wasn't invented by the Chinese it's a sailor lighter used in the navy since it can't be put put by wind. It's british and was used in WWI if i'm not mistaken

The knife is made from plane old GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) or fibreglass. Like used in PCB. Just with a lighter, coloured resin. Good and tough.

I think i know what was 'wrong' with the drill bits. On larger sized drills like the one you used, the cutting edges dont go all the way to the middle. You need to drill a pilot hole with a smaller drill
