Fun fact Varnae is named for Varney who is, sometimes, considered the first fictional vampire by modern vampire myth standards. Folklore predates him but he's the one where we get two fangs, dual puncture marks, etc. 'Varney the Vampire' came out fifty years before Stoker put out Dracula.

Feeling a little bit like a sucker. I didn’t see the Varnae thing coming. I was thinking his power upgrade with Dracula corrupted him. But I did think Blades daughter would end up being the “key to everything” at some point. Also with the speech from captain America this is a low key advertisement for upcoming MCU projects. Liked the story so far though, and the Knull coming pause thing was hilarious!

My interesting thread possibility. Dr Doom's defense plan had him steal Dr Strange's students for protection. What does Doom know about their ability that Strange didn't see? When Doom said Blade was prepared by Marie Laveau, Varne's minion to be his host my interest became even greater because one of the student is Marie's great-great-granddaughter Zoe Laveau who has the ability to create zombies from the dead. Does she have more of Marie's powers.

So, Marvel has tons of worlds like DC, right? I kind of wish Blade had taken some responsibility instead of just blaming Varnae. I think the 3rd Blade movie is to blame for this feeling because in that one, Dracula told Blade that "the thirst for blood always wins". With Brielle in the mix now, it would have been more exciting if Blade had really gone dark and Brielle took on the role of vampire killer. Marvel is really good at turning bad characters into good guys. It would have been awesome to see Blade as a bad guy and then turn things around later on.

1:28 unlike younger, comic book, readers, older people who used to read these books, understand the power is scaling of the characters. The vision is a character who can become as hard as diamond to the point where his fist hit as hard as Thor‘s hammer. His density form gives him near vulnerability to any sort of power that Spider-Man 1610 could ever generate. This would’ve never happened and when it does happen, it breaks the illusion of flow with the story.

I also want to drag the entirety of Disney Marvel into a room and force them before even coming up with the storyline to read and reread the entirety of the 1970s hit “ The Tomb of Dracula” over and over and over and over again. Their characterization of Dracula is totally wrong. That character would make Dr. doom look like a sock pocket in his arrogance, cunning and intelligence. Also, I would’ve had the bright mind who created this damn crossover to simply reread what that last blade miniseries was all about. Dracula, who drank the blood of Varnae to become the Lord of vampires, himself likely got infected by that same lord of vampires when Dracula had him drink his own blood. But none of this is explained in the story. We have characters who are out of character doing things they would never do.

3:50 this is where bad writing is to the height of ridiculousness. Dracula has such a hot temper. He would likely snatch up Miles the same way that long ago he snatched up that blade vampire doppelgänger as he was nothing. He did not have a millisecond of patience when suffering the prattling of fools. This is where modern writers don’t have enough space to tell any story given these insanely horrific cash grabs by the industry. They focused on creating ideas, but have no ability to execute them. It ruins decent and very talented artist who have to go around and try to interpret the insanity of the modern editorial process with too many executive hands in the kitchen, and which one of the main hands in the kitchen is the damn accountant, looking at sales numbers
