The guy's just likable. That's his 'secret'. Nothing much more to it than that. He knows cars too, obviously, but so do plenty of other people. His other secret is that he's just relentlessly comprehensive and standardises everything: he reviews pretty much every car out there, and gives 'em microscopically detailed scores, so you want to know what he thought of, say, the F40's styling, or the 720s's quality or whatever. Fun fact, the Ferrari 458 speciale V8 engine makes more horsepower per liter than any other naturally aspirated production engine, which is most likely why it won best engine 3 years. Also in my opinion the 458 is one of the best and coolest Ferrari's ever made!

I think for me, it is also a tie between the 458 and the Enzo best Ferrari no need to tell u why they are so badass! After that I think my two second favorites in a tie would have to be the Ferrari F40 and the LA Ferrari. A LA Ferrari is a sweet car loaded with crazy tech and a good looking car don't get me wrong, but I think there was too much hype about it. I definitely think the 458 is a more beautiful car. As far as the F40 I think It's appeal lies and it's amazing stats, 0 to 60 and 4.2 seconds add a top speed of a 199 miles an hours, which even today is good performance for sports/super car and crazy back then! Also it's 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged and intercooled V-8 packing 471 hp and 426 ft lbs of torque. Plus since the F40 was just made to go as fast as possible and lose enough parts the get down to the amazing 2400lbs means no ABS (the F40’s brakes aren’t even power-assisted), no power assist in the rack and pinion steering, and no air-conditioning system, carpets, door trim, or door handles. There wasn’t even a radio offered. However later, for the U.S. market, air-conditioning units were added because the cabin simply got too hot from the engine. Although production was originally only going to be 400 units they ended up making 1311 units 213 of which made it to the US. I remember as a kid I had a poster of a Ferrari F40 in my room and when I was a kid my mom and I saw an F40 on the freeway, rare for us since you don't see many supercars in Utah especially in the 90's, and my mom gave him a thumbs up and even though we were already going 65 he shot off like a rocket and left us like we were standing still lol!

I've been enjoying all of your videos for the last few months. I love the level of detail you go into every facet of the cars. My only comment (made apparent by how this video was cut) was that, as you transition to driving the car, I wish the background sound was the idle sound of the car. In this video, it would have been a fantastic transition, seeing as you shared the idle sound just before you transitioned to driving.

Those are the biggest rear brake calliper I have ever seen! Side note: what is with manufacturers like Mercedes and Bentley having cheap floating calipers on the rear of the car in top of the line models? I know the majority of braking is needed in the front but at least put a 4 piston caliper in the rear for looks if not anything else.

I don’t agree with your argument that Ferrari are making too many special edition cars. They generally make one "standard model" and one lightweight plus more horsepower version of the car. Compare that to what Lamborghini are doing. How many Aventadors are there now? The LP 700/4, LP 720/4 Anniversio, Aventador J, Aventador SV, Aventador S, Aventador SVJ Or the Huracan, they made the 610/4, 580/2, the performante and now they release the Huracan Evo Now that’s making the special editions lose there "specialness"

Why did Doug throw some shade on that BMW V10? I’m not sure why everyone hates on that engine so much. It was basically a racing engine for a sedan, you wouldn’t expect a Ferrari engine to go for 100,000 miles on a daily use but people got upset when a racing engine had problems when you put a lot of miles on it after daily use. When you put that engine into context it’s remarkable how reliable it was for a racing engine. My father owned one and it went over 100,000 miles with pretty few issues like a faulty throttle actuator. Did it have issues? Of course it did, but it was a racing engine in a 4,000+ lb sedan getting driven daily, revving to 8,250 rpms, so of course it would have its issues. No one is driving the 458 speciale daily for 100,000 miles and complaining that it’s not reliable.

Matter of opinion. I have a manual car, r8 and a dual clutch S3. Enjoy them both. Nothing like carving up the back roads in the 3 pedal v10. Daily driving the S3 is also an absolute pleasure. Enjoy your cars.
