I’ve got the battery one so I can’t place it too high because I’d have to remove every now and then to charge but my complain is that there’s no screw to keep the battery pack locked in.

I got the Ring Spotlight Cam battery recently. I Installed it no problem. It rained for 2 days, and it had water inside the lens and battery compartment and it stopped working. The battery compartment was completely closed as well. I sent it back and I installed the replacement today. I’m sceptical though to be honest. If I’m paying £200 for an outdoor security camera, which is advertised for outdoor use, it needs to be completely WATERPROOF not ‘Weather Resistant’.

Brian Landers I used my brain. I picked up the Blink XT Outdoor ‘Waterproof’ Cameras instead, and I’ve had no problems with them whatsoever. There’s is also no subscription charges with Blink. Happy days. Have fun building your Martin houses, and throwing away your hard earned cash at Ring. 👍🏻

Anyone looking at Ring products and are on the fence. Just go and do it. Stop reading reviews and just go ahead. Reviews I read VS first hand experience changed my view. Reviews sucked for one reason or another. I learned real quick the product is great. The people are not. QVC offers all ring stuff on easy pay. $39/mo. I have a ring doorbell 2 and plan to buy this camera to watch my vehicles. Complaints are the cloid services. $10/mo or $100/yr. Cheap for video storage. You don't have to save it to hard drives or manage downloading the data. It does it all pain free. Other complaints are wifi related. Doorbell 2 comes with the wifi extender even though it wasn't listed on QVC. If you can't watch KZbin in HD then your net is probably shit and getting a wifi camera is dumb. Just get the product. It's good. I've always been able to watch the footage from the cloud and ID who was at my door. Ultimately that is why you buy this. Proof of crap going down.

While the solar panel and/or rechargeable battery is easy, for the best performance and reliability the Ring camera system needs to be hardwired into your 120 volt house wiring. Also, in the event of an emergency, I would highly recommend running the camera through a regular single pole light switch inside your house or garage so the camera can be turned off and on. There are times you do not want the camera on, like when you are mowing the lawn, blowing snow out of the driveway, or when the kids are playing in the yard. The camera on a switch makes it easy to turn off and on, so you do not get 100 annoying alerts and videos that are unnecessary.

Smith N. Wesson there is now a snooze option on the app. Also you can just open the app and turn off the blue motion sensor on/off toggle. I always use the snooze when doing yard work.

I am having trouble getting the camera to fit into the mounting base....it doesn't seem to really fit (yes I know to loosen the ring and tighten once the camera is inserted) Does anyone have any guidance on how to make it fit better??

do you need to have internet to use camera, for example would this camera work if you have mobile phone and camera but you are in the bush/isolated place where is no internet?

zmajmr no cause it works off of Wifi. The Camera transmits to internet thru WiFi. If the motion detector goes off it sends a signal thru WiFi to internet to your Ring app notifying you of the motion. At this time you can watch live off phone or WiFi/4g tablet. It works very good. I’m not as impressed with the battery/ and solar panel system as I am with the wired version. The wired version gives much more features. The battery version only records 30 seconds when the detector goes off, but the wired version keeps recording until no more motion. I think there is a 1min cool down on both. Also on wired version you can control the motion field and the light 💡 field. Few other features for wired I can’t think of right now. Both do the basic job but if you think about it. I’d rather have a camera recording for longer then 30 seconds. Also you can just buy a wireless IR camera/dvr system for just a little bit more.

I've experienced this on my other cameras and I think the main issue is wifi strength. I was able to fix this problem on my Floodlight camera by adding a wifi extender (NetGear, $30). I hope that helps!

Does the unit have a motion detector to notify you if someone is within view? In other words, if Im at work and someone walks up my driveway does it send me a notification on my cell phone? Or do I need the RING doorbell also? ALSO does it have a microphone and speaker? Thanks in advance, Tommy.

Yes it does have motion detection & will work alone. No, you don't have to have the doorbell for it to work. Just set your motion areas. You'll get the alert on your phone, you can live view, speak 2 way over the intercom and there's even a siren you can set off. You have the choice to have the light come on with motion or manually turn it on. I highly advise buying the solar panel if your going with the battery one. It's been months and I've yet to have to change out batteries.

I am not happy with mine either as I should have gone with wired in ones , instead of battery operated , Battery operated ones seem to have to be charged to often. But when you buy them you have no one to help you decide on what is best for you .

Mary Vecchione I returned mine and I am currently using the Reolink Argus 2 which is 100% better. That being said I really wanted to stick with all Ring products but I couldn't stick with the Spotlight Cam Battery Operated. I thought about another Floodlight or Spotlight Mount but they would only be 7 1/2 feet off the ground and the suggested hight is 9 feet 😢

On my iphone, when I have it muted/vibrate mode, it does not create an audible notification. I also have the Ring Chime product that can plug into any outlet and give you the notification wherever you put it in your house.

Of course they can with a baseball bat, just as any other mounted camera unless it's one of those commercial strength builds that are designed to take some hits. I've seen some similar cameras like this that are in school gymnasiums. They could easily take some hits from balls or other objects without disrupting the angle.

Pavel S it's S3 a month per camera or S10 a month for unlimited cameras (plus you get 10% of future purchases with the unlimited plan). If someone breaks or steals it Ring replaces for free with police report. Can't beat that.

I would not recommend buying this product the quality of the video it records is not that good mostly slow and slightly blurry as the person moves around I would still highly recommend going with the traditional outdoor surveillance systems that get hooked on to a monitor than this type of security cameras.

Yeah I will never buy RING... I am not going to Populate the Property with the ability to have Police look at my footage anytime they want.... They want to see something from one of my Many cameras they can Ask me for the Footage. However seeing I don't have more then just the 1 HDD per DVR I own and I only have it set to keep footage for a week. If it isn't within the last few days then there is nothing to see.... CLOUD and P2P is a way to have your footage open to more eyes then your own. IP cameras are NOT SECURE if your looking for a good camera system that will protect you and your property then buy DVR and want good HD then get 4k CVI unit much more secure then your 4k IP ever will be.....

Installed it myself without any issues. The wifi signal is great even kzbin.infoUgkxE_D_sddGAdiVUKp7PkkmyxO7bRtgqmk5 when the router is located far away. I really enjoy the night vision feature that allows me to see clearly any activity near our house (mostly cars and wild animals). The motion detection is helpful to me as well to monitor what happens on our front.
