Here's Why THESE ARE THE VERY BEST AUTOMOTIVE LEDs YOU CAN BUY!!
This Is THE MOST EXPENSIVE LED YOU CAN BUY!!!
In this video I show the differences between cheap and expensive automotive LEDs. I also show why I think the expensive version is the best! While I do own and have installed a bunch of cheap LEDs, I have learned that you really do get what you pay for. I've had good luck with some, terrible luck with others, but in the daytime running light (DRL) location I just couldn't skimp out. The DRLs are a bulb that runs constantly while driving during the day and therefore I needed an LED that could handle heat. This Sylvania ZEVO 3157 has a giant heat-sink which is just what I needed.

I bought an older version of the 3157 LED bulbs from Sylvania and ran into issues having both a blinker function and a daytime running light function. I called up Sylvania and got a friendly person on the phone who told me the issue had been resolved in their newer version (like the ones you have in your video) and the woman sent me some new ones for free. Incredible customer service and quality

@@ryanlevihead1419 hell yeah. They are super bright even though they claim it is. It’s the brightest of the least bright led bulbs. When u look at the amber led light output, doesn’t look awesome just by lookin at it? It’s sharp and it looks oem plus. Very unique and a beautiful amber color. I bought these lights as well. Sylvania Zevo are quite literally are the best tail light, turn signal, and interior lighting option you can buy. Yes they are expensive but they last forever. They never have any issues or failures. The quality on the bulbs is top notch. Heat dissipation is something Sylvania really focussed on. And Sylvania uses the best LED diodes. They hand to pick them to be the best quality for quality control. 👌👌

@@sean.g4516 not sure, sold that truck a few months ago. The bulb "next to" that would be for turn signals, it may work there also but only if you have orange lenses. I had smoked out lenses and had to find orange LEDs for those sockets. If the stock bulbs for both DRL and turn signals are the same then it's plausible, yes. Another thing to consider is the smaller bulbs on the sides of the turn signal lamps.

Agreed! This is a good video but people go overboard on LEDs, especially if the headlights aren't xenon or LED from the factory or properly retrofitted then you have this weird hodgepodge of color combinations.

I had the 3157 ZEVO but I found the 3157 Sylvania Silverstar was considerably brighter. The problem with many LEDs are they do not dissipate the light patterns correctly. The reflector lens in the light housing is designed with the light reflecting off with light being output at the correct angle. Many of the brightest LEDs can wash out quickly and actually put out less light than a mid of the line incandescent if it does not reflect the light off the back of the housing correctly.

Good informational video and your thoughts are 100% on the money. Do it right the first time. I've been using Sylvania ZEVO's in my BMW's and other cars for the past 6 years (both interior an exterior bulbs) and have yet to have one burn out. Best LED bulbs out there, IMHO. Aside from the lower power consumption and lower heat output, they also provide better light than the incandescent bulbs they replaced. The ZEVO's seem to fill the reflectors more fully with light, and they are instant on instead of the light ever so slightly ramping up like an incandescent bulb. Makes a noticeable improvement on bulbs like the brake and turn signals. They ARE more expensive than everything else, but are 100% worth it.

3 things: 1. Jimmy, you're using the wrong bulbs for DRL. These 99-06 GM trucks need 4114 bulb (incandescent) for DRL, the problem is morons put in 3156/3157 which burns up the socket and sometimes even shorts/melts the wiring going to the DRL socket. The incandescent 4114 bulb is 12V 1.7W (0.14A), versus the 3157 (dual filament) is 8.3W (0.7A) and the single filament 3156 is 27W (2.25A). The wiring and socket is rated for 12W (1A) at most. Luckily automotive LEDs are low power (typically around 2W) so this is not an issue using 3156/3157 LEDs, but Sylvania does make the 4114 LED (in 2 styles) which is a direct replacement. 2. For DRL in these GM trucks, you need to use 4114 or 3156 LEDs, not 3157. This is because 3156 is single filament, 3157 is dual filament, and installing the 3157 into a 3156/4114 socket can burn out the bulb/LED within seconds if installed backwards. 3. With most companies these days is "lifetime warranty" means lifetime of the product, once it dies the lifetime has ended and no support. I've had Sylvania and other companies say they see no record of the purchase, and some say they "lost most of the records" during a server upgrade as an excuse to not honor their warranty, and expect you to keep the receipt for proof of purchase.

I went Zevo crazy on my car, 2011 Crown Vic, the interior feels like a much newer car simply from the different light temperature and the fact that they are are MUCH brighter than the stock incandescent bulbs. As for the turn signals and brake lights, the improvement is very noticeable. Take this with a grain of salt as results may vary based on the lens and reflector of the housing you're replacing the bulb for. Overall, these are worth the cost and considering their warranty, I haven't found better. Only warning is to make sure you can locate your factory turn signal relay so you can either replace it or bypass it with an LED compliant flasher module. If your electrical system had all incandescent to start with, it is expecting the resistance of incandescent bulbs. Switching to all LEDs will trigger the hyper flash of your turn signals which normally signals a burnt out bulb. This may vary but will most likely be the case.

Informative video. My truck uses DLR and turn signal on the same bulb. That being said, will these cause "hyperflash" when using turn signal? Would you use thse for brake lights and reverse lights? I would guess not since revese lights and brake lights are used for short period unlike DLR. Thanks.

What are the map lights you just described? I could use a set in uv blacklight for the cluster and hvac controls

I share your philosophy about buying quality products instead of wasting money on cheap ones. I also believe in spending a little more on durable goods that I use every day and have to rely on for a long time (car, home appliances, furnace, water heater, etc.).

I used those zevo bulbs in my 2012 equinox. They were the best purchase I made for the car aside from the aftermarket fog lights that I installed.

Jimmy thank you for all your good advice and yes the Zevo LED's are awesome. One bit of advice if you try to also replace your back up lights. When I changed the back up lights with the Zevo's I immediately got a "SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE" error message. When I went back to the 3157's the error message went away. I would love to hear from anyone else who has a 2003 2500 Chevy Sub that ie 4X4. Thank you Jimmy

Ayyy nice content, I might get those for my 2000 suburban! My only concern is that they won't produce enough heat in snow conditions...I know a lot of Jeeps have that problem when you switch to LEDs and then your headlights get frozen over while you're driving

I put these zevo 3157s in my sierra and for some reason they seem to be as bright when they're installed in the housing. They look dim, but when I hit the turn signal they go brighter which is weird

Is there any chance that you have a list of all of the bulbs in a suburban, and recommendations for LED upgrades for them? At a quick count, my 1999 suburban has at least 37 lights.

Jimmy next video you need to replace those burned light housing sockets with new ones. Polish lens or buy new ones to maximize light output. Do they sell 3156 for the reverse light in that Sylvania Zevo brand ? Thanks good info.

I have red ZEVO’s in my rear tail light/turn signals. They are a deeper red and look good. But every premium Sylvania headlight stinks. They have a 1 year warranty and that’s about how long they last. Same with their home bulbs. I buy premium Philips for my headlight bulbs and they not only last longer, but are about $15 cheaper per pair.
