I remember when I was little, my family used to have a 1999 Trooper Citation (V642 FES) in a dark metallic green, with the 3.5-litre V6 petrol and a 5-speed manual gearbox. And I also remember back in 2015, when my sister was in primary school, she was friends with a boy from the same year group as her, and I remember his dad used to have the Vauxhall version of this car, the Vauxhall Monterey.

It’s funny to hear (being from Canada) you emphasize how large it is. As far as suvs go this is kind of medium sized around here

Love your review! I've just bought my 2nd one of these. My first was 23 years ago when I first came to New Zealand - that was the 3.2 petrol V6 with the Lotus suspension and (I think) a Lotus automatic geabox. The current one (bought a month ago) is the same 3.1 turbo diesel version you're driving (although I don't have the big turny-knobs). Like you say ... SEVEN SEATS! And the engines, if looked after, DO last forever. Are they The Best Offroad 4x4? ... probably not ... get thee a modified Landcruiser FJ4x, 60 or 70 for that (especially the FJ70 Trooper ❤❤❤). But the Bighorn DOES handle long journeys really well. Plus ... with all that internal cabin space ... YES, they're just so comfy. I remember even having a picnic in my 3.2 V6 Lotus Bighorn while ON A FERRY with 3 other peeps, sipping vino and eating cheese and crackers with dips for my mate's surprise birthday road-trip. My latest purchase is as a general hack / workhorse for offroad trips ... mountain-biking and skiing, paddle-boarding, kite-surfing, wake-boarding and carrying all the tools for house-renovations ... all the activities that take me off-road - even if because the ML63 and Audi S4 just aren't designed for off-road ...plus even when not really off-road but just on a gravel road I really do hate the thought of THOSE STONE CHIPS!!!!! These wagons are soooooooo under-rated. They're almost like a secret gem. Seriously ... just buy one! But beware ... the 3.0 diesel engine, while more powerful and higher performance, tends to be mis-treated and shit its pants. Diesel back-blow is something to avoid at all costs. Go for the more tame and more reliable 3.1. If you're buying the 3.2 V6 ... get the gearbox checked ... they suffer from Transmission Windup and that can be a costly repair. (Don't ask me how I know / why I traded in my first one ... 🙄🙄)

So true, for some reason the engines lasted longer than the body which is a shame, did bodywork for the third time of its life and my dad is the third owner

Chassis rear crossmember area, and up where the steering box bolts to the frame are the areas where rust kills them. By 1999 the Isuzu importers in Ireland were "Tuffcoat by Dinitrol" treating the chassis, which helped a lot. Of course by then the 3.0 engine was fitted, and caused far more to be scrapped, neatly killed off Isuzu as a brand. Winding up the front torsion bars do nothing for the front CV joints

Dudes just driving in 4H, probably SHREDDING the centre diff lock. Edit: 4H is still only meant for off road. As it engages the centre diff lock. Driving aslt high speeds for long periods of time will wreck it. 2H is the only way to drive it on the road

We had one as a family wagon and drove it mountain trips on snowy road In 4h til 500 000
@rikardandersson7288 Жыл бұрын
@@wildrosewoodcraft9559driving in 4H on snow is fine. It's fine on any low grip surface such as offroad, snow or a gravel road. It's when the tires aren't able to "skip" things break since these don't have a centre diff and is just locking the front and rear together. Something has to give when the wheel speeds differ from front to rear, i.e cornering
@Ezekiel-OffRoad Жыл бұрын
I think you’re confusing the word break with wear out. usually drivetrain components i.e. differentials, axles and transfer cases break, due to shock load or one extreme load pushing it beyond its limits like when climbing a sand dune in 4low 2nd gear pedal to the floor, trying to maintain speed and BANG something breaks. Driving around in four-wheel-drive on dry pavement for extended periods of time is certainly not good and will put wear and tear on all of the drivetrain components including tires but it is not gonna make anything go bang. What it will most likely wear out is the chain in the transfer case stretching it to the point where you’ll start hearing it slap against the case housing or start whining.
@rikardandersson7288 Жыл бұрын
@@Ezekiel-OffRoad what I mean is that it will wind up eventually since there's no center diff. And when it winds up enough something will snap, if you're not lucky and a wheel just slips that is. Also atleast the transfercase for the manual mau5 which is in this one is gear driven

You really should do a better job by clearly stating the Year, Make, Model and Trim at the beginning of the video. You're talking on and on about the vehicle, and all we know is that it's an Isuzu Trooper.
