India has been underrated for centuries it is & was the hub of spices & all things exotic ,a gateway to Indian islands that also grew spices like nutmeg , cloves it was a Bazar. It's the home to sugar cane , black pepper , cinnamon, amongst many other spices that attracted Europe to it. Middle East traders had both routes ( spice & silk ) locked down 2 tax Europe to the hilt.dat prompted the exploration of sea routes to India & after da gama's voyage the era of European occupation started. Before diamonds where discovered in South Africa - India was the only source of it. Along with the Hindu number system , shampoo , flushing toilets as far back as the Indus the area of India has been a hive of activity attracting all traders this open policy died out under Nehru who loved USSR so much that his policies killed off Indian exports & private businesses. BJP sees the flaws in this isolation policy & has had to almost recreate a new India , it retains a lot of socialist policies but not communist , it's a stable democracy with a lot of potential esp. in space & digital so from an investment view I would definitely choose India over China. Fyi AMD has been in India for a while & employs over 5000 PPL doing high end chip design , cell phones incl apple have made the move , Tesla will open it's next factory in India , 2 huge lithium deposits have been discovered. India is a world leader in thorium research as a safer alternative to nuclear , it also has the world's highest reserves of thorium. Changes r everywhere from infrastructure to education syllabus the BJP has met a lot of the challenges, more is to be done hence it will rule for the next 20 years. States to be careful off is DMK in the south & TMC in West Bengal. Jammu , Kashmir are opening up , gujerat & u.p are solid regions , Bihar has room to grow if corruption there can be controlled. Punjab is a waste - it's been dragged down by its own PPL - leaving for USA & Canada not studying tertiary levels. The southern states also have a brain drain issue but BJP is going to put measures in to ensure PPL do not study in India then benefit western economies tax systems so I would be optimistic about Indian investment. Also India is part of quad+ that is to be a total chynese free supply line , G20 - 2 alternates to chynese belt & road.

India may become an Israel kind of democracy on the optimistic side. Interpret that however you choose. And worst case scenario a Putin style popular evergreen government. With token opposition.

We not only like Russia but also the USA, it would be best for all if wars can be prevented and we can work and grow together.. I know, idealistic and all.. but understand this, whenever Indians say they love/support Russia, it doesn't automatically become we hate/stand against USA, they aren't inversely proportional to us. We seek to work together, definitely difficult, some may say close to impossible, but, it's a goal for us nevertheless..

Some are bullish some experts are not. I guess view from the west is stability of the government. Modi good or bad needs to stay for investment. Growth will not be sustainable if the government keeps changing but growth will not be china like. Instead of playing catch up we need to focus on overall social development to sustain economic development in the long run.

Modi is the best choice to juice local Indians for us. I have invested in India

I've listened to Mobius for decades, I believe. He has always been enthusiastic about the investment opportunities in emerging markets. The problem is that except for a short period in the past, the US market has done much better than the emerging market. I do not know why I would believe that EM would be any better this time.
@JohnnyRotten-uf6xwАй бұрын
How about invest in US for short to mid-term and emerging markets for longer-term returns?
@King_ofNightАй бұрын
Compare it to India (using terms like the emerging market is like blurring the boundary, as here India is the focus)
@johnc4789Ай бұрын
@@King_ofNight True. But one could also question his credibility.
@johnc4789Ай бұрын
@@JohnnyRotten-uf6xw Right. That's also what Jeff Gundlach says. If India is good in ten years from now, why would I be in this possibly subpar investment relative to S&P500 for the next nine years. Better to wait to see if there is a sustainable momentum up in India?
@JohnnyRotten-uf6xwАй бұрын
@@johnc4789 Sure. Diversification couldn't hurt though. Throw some chump change at it. For you, they're crumbs, for birds it's lunch.

Modi is so kind to corporate that He allowed corporate to exploit their employees with low salary. Modi has turned blind eye on private sector employees.

Few comments: British reparation to India is $45 trillion based on 2008 estimates. If you do the same reparation for islamic invasions (Arabs, Turks, Syrians, Persians/Iranians, Afghans, Mongols/Mughals, etc) and lootings over 1000 years before arrival of Europeans, the reparations would easily cross $1000 trillion based on 2008 value.
