I remember someone in camp wants you to fish with them a lot or a couple times when your camp is in the Rhodes area. Maybe it doesn’t mark it off your map if you haven’t started ‘Fisher of Fish’ yet like myself I didn’t start it until chapter 6 tuberculosis Arthur and it’s also not marked off my map but I also can’t find the fish either. I just hope they respawn on the John play through

I literally did everything around this lake in my mission to be able to catch this fish. I got perfect beaver pelts, enough flight feathers to fly a jet, a cave drawing I didn’t even know was there, I pushed a fisherman in the water and shot him in anger that I couldn’t catch this fish all to find out I’m literally an idiot. Thank you though 😂 not to mention catching like 50 muskies.

Me too, man. I literally spent a whole day trying to catch it only to finally cave in and look up a tutorial, only to find out it was all for nothing. Or, well, maybe not for nothing. I had my honor level all the way low, and since all the fish I was catching, I was releasing, I was able to get it up to over halfway up. Oh well.

Not in my case. First fish. Legendary bluegill, the one the game hands to you. All prerequisites and conditions checked: fish mission active, correct place, correct lure, morning, night, or rain, boat or shore. All I ever get are bass. It's not that I caught it and the game failed to mark it. It's that it's never there to catch. I'm done with legendary fishing. It's a complete crock.

Here’s my theory on why certain legendary fish sometimes don’t get X’d off the map once you catch them: I just caught this legendary fish during the Epilogue. I took a stagecoach to valentine to try to mail the fish after stowing it on my horse, but once I got to Valentine, the fish was no longer on the horse, and the fish was no longer X’d out on the map, and nor could I mail the fish, although maybe that’s because this is in the Epilogue. I’m wondering if taking the stagecoach before you mail the legendary fish is what causes the glitch?

You need the special lure to catch the legendary fishes, big or small, it has to be special lure (special lures are sold by the lady in Lagras, and I think Mason gave you one normal lure when you helped him taking pictures of the alligators, the store is unlocked after that, then you can buy special lures, in chapter 2). I catch most of them in the first try (the mechanics are there but to use it at the right moment is your freedom to do. Change the reel-in with the "X" button instead rotating the right stick would help). You need the legendary fish map after taking Jack out fishing, the map is unlocked, and you get it from the dude by the boat house near Rhode. There are legendary fish (Norther Pike, Bullhead Catfish, Blue Gill) you cannot catch until the you are in the new map, or you must follow the story missions. The big legendary fish will chase the special lure down, so it helps just to cast it near to shore, so you don't have to reel it in from a distance. That cut down fighting time to 1/4. Release the "X' button when they run. Pull up (yank the pole up and reel in) when they are not running, this also land them when they are close. I play on Steam PC, so on the console it may glitch out. I hope this help.

...this is like when you get into a screaming match about who has the remote when you're the one unknowingly sitting on it. I caught the Gar (apparently) a couple months back. However, not only does it not show up on my map as uncrossed, the little picture never showed up at all. I assumed I had misremembered the location I needed to trigger it and was running all over Lakay and Lagras today...well, anyway, thank you for pointing this very simple and embarrassing thing out to me. When you go fishing with keiran in chapter 3 (clemens point) after he leaves a massive fish will appear and that the legendary small mouth bass. Don’t know why it spawns there but you can catch it but it will be listed as a regular small mouth bass

Arthur/John catches this fish as part of a mission for Hamish Sinclair; that’s why it’s not one of the thirteen required by Jeremy Gill. Maybe that’s why it doesn’t get crossed off the map. Similarly, maybe the Legendary Bluegill doesn’t get crossed from the map if you catch it when fishing with Kieran Duffy.

Since the steelhead trout wasn't marked with a "X" on the map, I fished that waterfall for a couple of hours! Time after time, all I could catch were muskie! I thought there were just too many muskie in the water, getting the Special River Lure, ... sooooo I caught 12 muskie and laid them all out on the bank, plus the one that weighed 19 pounds, 8 ounces that I kept on the horse. And then--- I kept catching more MUSKIES! The bank around the waterfall looked like a bomb had went off in a school of muskie! I really felt bad about killing all those fish, so I floated them down the river... then felt bad about polluting the water with dead muskie. Now I come here and find out I'm an idiot. But at least, now I have "closure"........

Pull the rod up and down, start tapping X after the fish quits fighting. repeat the rod up and down trick until the fish is caught... NEXT! Is how you discover the Legendary Channel Catfish and How to catch it without the R* update (cut content).

@@thetwan ran into another issue soon after! Was completing all the animal things (master hunter, and all legendaries). I killed an opossum ‘playing possum’ (master hunter 9) but it didn’t give me the credit for the challenge!! Ok so I keep hooking what I assume is a legendary stealhead trout but it literally doesn’t get any closer when I start reeling it in and I know I’m not doing it wrong I know how to reel in a fish even irl. So I hook the fish and spend 3-5 minutes reeling and reeling but it never moves closer towards me.

The fish is already caught if you do the fishing quest with Hamish. The fish you catch in the lake With Hamish is the legendary fish.

I tried everything on that damn lake. I walked all the way round it. I rowed all the way round it. I tried at all different times of the night and day. I went back numerous times. Finally I noticed a fish man's rod propped up by a rock near the bridge. As soon as I cast at that exact spot I got the legendary fish. Game developers obviously decided to make this legendary fish a bummer to catch.

Lo and behold , there's the problem .....what to do about other legendaries where you didn't get all the parts , such as the buck ? I never got the horn so I can't get the buck trinket ... i think maybe I caught him too early in my gameplay and didn't skin it; just gave.the whole thing to the trapper....not sure tho ...but do u think that's an issue in some cases where the legendary dary wasn't skinned or does that not matter ? I caught about 12 20lb Muskie trying to catch the Sockeye Salmon. I got tired of cooking them , I started leaving them on the ice, after a session where I didn’t have any luck ,I came back and a couple were just bones

You have to stand on the spot where the white dot is on the map gill the fisherman gave you you have to keep looking in your satchel and then go back on the game map and try to stand in that spot i was having the same issue on console but i noticed that pattern after leaving this fish alone .. if you zoom in on the legendary fish map there an exact white dot marker … then i looked it up to see if anyone else struggled lol

Just change your options do this : settings-option-controls- go to the bottom and turn it on it will be easy to catch you just have to press square

I was fishing for legendary salmon in the snow region for like 2 hours I was bouta give up and on my last cast I see a big ass pink fish dart across the lake and attacks the lure words can’t even describe how happy I was

Had that problem just yesterday. I went fishing for that one , then caught it. But when I looked on the map it wasn't marked off. I look on my compendium and it says I just caught it.

But I have 1 more fish to catch and it says on the map I need to get the small mouth bass but when I click on the jeremy Gill mission it says I need to get the large mouth bass and the same on the compendium I'm so confused cause I've caught the Rhodes fish
