I breathed a sigh of relief when you started with the stab back on. Interesting to see exactly what it does. Thanks.

Hi Gaël, just try to come into monofoiling not by the most difficult dock start but first try to ride it behind any towing device (boot, wing, kite) straight, then try to pump it in this configuration and as last step when you feel home on the mono, then try to dockstart and it should be way easier.

The Triton X-1 was stabless, but it had sweep, and upturned trailing edges on wingtips. So it effectively had the stabilization built-in.

With Tritons it is hard to explain. I can pump any pure monofoil if sizes is bigger than about 700 cm² for a few minutes, but tried two different Tritons, which I call stabilised monofoils as the got a strong reflex profile and just didn't get a feeling to pump them, while on wing or kite the Tritons work quite good for me.

Always love your informative videos! Question: what size mast is your favorite? And what are the details for choosing perfect mast length: i am sure variables are dock height, your height, what type of start you doing, how shallow the water is. Etc I find it u comfortable to pump when high on my 82 cm mast. Maybe thats why i am not good getting high. It feels unstable. Maybe shorter mast you can be high on mast, but not too high above water? What are your thoughts?

thanks! generally speaking shorter is easier so better for beginners. I personally like the 75-82 range and I ride 80 because you have more room to play in the waves. i don't think your height is really a determining factor. nor the dock height: different docks, different starts. when the dock is more than 60-65 cm above the water i just reverse drop start. determining factors: conditions, spot, whether you use the mast for other foil activities, and whether beachstarting is important for you. beachstart -> shorter better. only flat water -> 70-75 range is fine. other activities (wing, downwind) -> above 75 is better prone -> depends on water depth
