This is fascinating case of lawn mower use for sure

A little extra oil here and there... a lot of dirt and grime. These poor little machines are so abused!

I’ve run across that green gas residue and also blue color residue before. Customer said they get gas from cut-rate stations we have here in the US called Raceway Gas, Speedway Gas, US Gas etc. Sometimes the fuel is blue or green, sometimes it’s loaded with water. I had a customer bring a mower in because it stopped running after he put his “fresh” gas in it from Raceway. I drained the fuel and it was bright blue and the bottom 1/4 was all water!

Oh interesting.. I'm not sure if they have that here in Canuckada.. wouldn't be surprised. Maybe from a reservation, so that's possible. Thanks for the comment 😊

That poor old Tecumish…

Hahahahahahaha!!! Omg I totally read that in Taryl's voice too 🤣

I don’t know why everyone hates on Tecumseh engines so much. IMHO, those engines are better than Briggs and Crappon, especially when both went OHV. I really miss their reliability and easy nature to work on. I have known plenty of people who hate them because they blow and in my experience, it was caused by either not enough oil or the fuel and/or governor systems being messed up. I have only had one fail on me on a snowblower I had and that was because the governor was messed up when I got it and I didn’t bother to fix it as I had another engine to go on it when it went. I really miss Tecumseh. Nobody made better snowblower engines, and their other engines were just awesome if taken care of.

When they are taken care of, they are great little engines, and the older ones are pretty good. The newer ones, 2005+ started to go to crap with poor build quality, unfortunately. But the L head is a really good engine.

Thank you! Finally good to save one, instead of condemning it to a parts pile..

I need a coil for my troy bilt mower

Aaah!!! That's always frustrating. I mean, do you buy a new aftermarket one, even with them being hit or miss....? Do you fork out the big bucks for a OEM?? That would be a tough call.. hopefully you can find a good used one, locally.

I sure wish you would use the right tools instead of using a 10 mm going around off the head of the 3/8 Head I know you live in Canada but if you get American made stuff you should use American SAE on things
@Mike-anic3 ай бұрын
Lol yeah, I hear you, I DO have the SAE sockets, but they have a habit of being not where I remember them being, so I grab a socket. But for context, if the socket doesn't feel right on the bolt, or nut, ie not snug.. I won't use it. The secret is a bit of chaos and disorganization 🤣 BUT I strive to be better. Plus I have a lot more metric tools as I had invested into auto repair (and it is entirely metric these days).
