You are actually correct. In the Fate route, the reveal that Kotomine was a Master happens WAY later. But here in UBW, Rin mentions it here because Kotomine's dialogue was a bit different leading up to that moment and she got mad at him for lying outright when he said "I have no idea what that mage who touched the Grail wished for." Can't wait for the rest of this playthrough, though obviously we all have to. It's going to be great. My personal bet is that you'll enjoy each route more than the last, based on what I've seen in your reactions over the years. I am biased though, as that was also my experience; it's definitely possible you'll prefer one of the other routes over Heaven's Feel.

you being unsure of who the heroine for the third route is a cool perspective to see. There were originally going to be even more routes but most of them got cut, worth looking into once you're caught up.

If there is one thing I want flaming shark to remember above all else : don't forget about fate route, more specifically shirou and sabers characters, their relationship and the thematic point of fate route itself. You won't understand for a while, but it's not the case of each route being a separate thing. It's rather like stairs with each route building on not just the basic information you learn but the ideas presented and the characters themselves. Ubw retroactively makes fate route even better in hindsight especially if you reread fate route after reading ubw

Maybe you already remember this but since you were joking about Shirou getting Saber being a gacha pull, I just wanted to make sure you remember that actually there was a reason for it. They mentioned how a Master can use something related to a particular Servant as a catalyst to summon that particular Servant. Kiritsugu had put Excalibur's scabbard in Shirou and so the link caused her to be summoned.

The World of Tsukihime and Tsukihime Stories extensively focuses on the Holy Church especially so. The Church is really... unique or even twisted, ironicaly hypocritical and very weird too. 1:41:48 It goes way back to the Fate Origin and Fate/Prototype being all about Biblical references. 1:56:44 The Sequel, Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, also gives you a lot of background, lore and diferent sides to FSN Rider.

In Fate/Stay Night or even in the whole Nasuverse (Type-Moon) every Story is Connected (like it sometimes is in Similar Type of Franchises), even if its a different Pathway or destiny, its a building process - only that you understand later - how and why House being build so up hight, in a different way, and actually has huge Stairs leading up to it... Which you need to ascend step by step to finish it. Thats the best i can allegoricaly describe it.

The story this time around will be very different. In the Fate route, because Shirou allowed Saber to attack Archer, he was out of commission for a long time. Now with him not being injured so early on, he and Rin will be able to be much more active in the war, whereas in the Fate route they had to take backseat for a long time.

Just make sure to keep fan made 'Realta Nua Ultimate Edition' close by just in case, as the Scripts here are different it could be handy. Tho if there will be moments i notice something about them i will mention it. Also for the 'Heavense Feel' i would also probobly recommend to stick with Ultimate Edition cus Spoiler reasons.

For unlimited blade works and fate , the remaster is pretty good, but heaven's feel route is too censored in the remaster,so it would be better to play it on the nonesteam version for the uncensored real route.

Heaven's feel movies adapted the old version instead of the remaster, because the old version has more impact in my opinion. The remaster version doesn't hit as hard as the uncensored one, they change quite a lot of scenes and plot points for " modern audiences" more likely sony tho

Kiritsugu was a complete outliner... Not exactly a proper Mage in terms of the mind set and magecraft practice one can say. This is another reason for Shirou's current state as a practitioner (apprentice) and the roundabout information knowledge, besides Kerry not wanting to teach him for real (which makes sense in a lot of ways when you see it from outside due to everything).

Nah I rather the other way around. Having the anime to compare to the vn is always the better choice if you have the time, which Shark has.

I wish i could be more excited for this, but it's kinda frustrating to know that Shark is pretty gonna gush about Rin non-stop throughout this entire route. Rin is undeniably popular, and she fits the mold of a classic, confident, and capable heroine. But the tendency for some fans to elevate Rin to near-perfection can sometimes overshadow the more nuanced and emotionally rich characters, and not just Shirou or Saber. It’s not that Rin doesn’t deserve admiration-she’s well-written and charismatic-but the way other characters often get sidelined in discussions can feel unfair at times. Rin’s introduction in the Fate route is flashy-she’s confident, competent, and stylish. First impressions matter, and Rin makes a strong one, but I fear that this severely backfires on a lot of the more reserved characters who's personalities need more time to develop.

I completely agree. For me, Sakura and Illya are easily my favorite girls in this vn, though I've always loved Saber. When it comes to Rin, through the first two routes, I thought she was OK, though I never grew to love her. Once I got later into the vn, I actually grew to hate Rin. I've reread the vn numerous times ,and the issues that I have with her were always there, I just didn't notice them as much. It's really unfortunate that Rin is practically the only girl from this vn that ever gets talked about.

Still though, from the way Shark treats her, it makes me fear how he'll react to HF, considered the best route by many; he acts like Rin possibly being at center of this story makes it the best by default *sigh*...

The complexities of who she is, how she develops even in UBW hidden due to her skills in mask making. Unlike a lot of characters in the vn where it’s obvious where they are lying to themselves or others like a majority of the cast. People either love Rin for her mask or hate Rin for her mask, it’s kinda insane but that’s what happens when an anime is popular that’s disregards inner nuance.

Is this new version of your game not a remastered one? Then I think it won't have alternative scripts for sensitive scenes such as the kiss scene with Saber in Fate route. You should stick with Realta Nua. Scripts in non-remastered version are all cringey as hell.
