This is the first movie in a long time that I had to pause a few times to collect myself. The scene with Annie wailing over the death of Charlie was the most realistic portrayal of grief that I've ever seen in a movie.

Upon watching this episode, I see how the party, the chocolate cake, the absence of an EpiPen in their mother's station wagon, and the deer carcass planted right beside the telephone pole with the coven's insignia burned into it were all premeditated.

The symbolism in this movie is through the roof, I love it.

I've grown to really like this movie, but I had the exact same reaction the first time I saw it. It was up until the reveal that it had me. I think what saves this for me, though, is the acting, directing, & that it managed to make me feel really, really uncomfortable lol With any other director or actors, I don't think this would've done well. It's gorgeous to look at.

You 2 watched this movie like troopers. Idk what possessed (pun intended) me to watch this alone at 2am but like most people I never want to watch this movie again in its entirety. Ari Aster has quickly become a favorite among horror fans. That dude is seriously screwed in the head but there’s no denying his impeccable cinematography. I’m never going to watch Midsommar and his latest is Beau Is Afraid. And so am I.

Omg 2am!! I cannot even fathom. If it wasn't for the fact that it was 8am in the morning and I was watching it with my friend Joseph, I don't think I could have watched this movie in its entirety either! I'm a new fan of Ari Aster! Midsommar was recommend by just about everybody, so we will watch it for you! lol

FYI most of the actual filming , the actual house they lived in , the treehouse in the aspens , the party house and road to headless scene was filmed near my home near Park City , Utah, and out here and south east of here it actually is that sparse and spread out, love it. Green green everywhere . ❤️ Oh and 53:11 see her top left above peters head in his bedroom? Most reactors miss it.

Was the pole that Charlie lost her head over the same one earlier seen with the symbol? Seems everyone that came in contact with that symbol ended up in Sleepy Hollow.

Yes! After watching it the second time it seems like that symbol was everywhere - like everything was premeditated by the cult

Yep. Same here. I was horrified by seeing parts of the Exorcist at 8 years old. I couldn't watch it again until 30 years later and realized it's very scary but a very good movie. One day, I'm sure, you'll be able to watch it.

It's downtown salt lake city at the school, Joan's apartment, and the cemetery. The house, the store, and the meeting place are in Park City.

Great reaction. You missed a Lot of visuals in the background, especially during transition shots.. watching again is highly recommended after you read up a little..

lol the last 5 min were the best part of the movie! Why? because in the last 5 min all pretense was cleared up and the reveal was that the entire movie took place in the 'workshop ' of this demon and all the characters were this demons 'miniatures' and playthings.

you're absolutely right. honestly didn't see all the moving parts of the movie come together the first time. but seeing it a second time and people like you commenting on all the different elements we missed REALLY helped!

Great reaction to true tension horror. The sort of thing that lets your imagination do half the work, so makes it 1 million times worse A bit of geekdom here for you to help settle your mind The lore regarding Paimon in this is nearly spot on. They have only made a couple of little changes. 1. Paimon is 1 of 9 Kings of Hell, not 8. They changed this to tie it in with a compass direction. 2. The beheading of sacrifices hasn't got anything to do with Paimons demonic lore. The reason it was included is from the original artwork of King Paimon from history (the pic in the film). You'll see 3 heads hanging from his belt. That is the ONLY thing that even hints towards that needing to be done. As well as to add a bit more ritual & some reason for the gore. & Feth me does it add some shocking brutality to the movie. But to cover a couple of the less than obvious things. The floating bodies IS part of Paimons lore. If you go back & pause on the page about him in the book you'll see that he is able to bend or break the laws of physics. So floating is no problem what so ever. Also making his followers super rich would be simple. Again he can bend/break the laws of physics. So hand him a block of wood & he could just change it to solid gold, as an example. Hope this helps add a bit of extra creepiness to a great horror. I never knew amy of this and now when I rewatch I'll have a much better understanding of the background. Because for me this is what was lacking in the movie - but obviously the lore would be another movie itself! Much love and thanks coming back at ya from California!

@@waitwhaaat from interviews that were done the supernatural side of the film is meant to have you questioning if it's real the whole time. To show hereditary mental illnesses. This is why we don't see much of the struggles the Dad is going through. I did hear you mentioning checking out, Midsommar. A great, if REALLY trippy film. The only warning I have is no drinking alcohol or hallucinogenic's before watching it.
