I personally ran black cows since 1989 and loved them. The last 8 +/- the cattle are all for the packer nothing for the rancher, fine boned, thin hided, no muscle and a lack of hair. Three years ago I bought 8 registered herefor cows and liked them so much I bought 47 more head of registered hereford cows. Switching my whole herd of commercials to black baldies and raising my own black baldie bulls to use on my commercial cows.

did you see the cargill settlement? cargill pleads guilty to defrauding farmers , over a period of 8 months $12,514,804 and only fined $155,000.. we all know they have been defrauding farmer since the 80's

I'm still at work from yesterday at Mitchell Livestock, loaded all night. We had some really nice animals go through yesterday. Lots of people get excited to see a bunch of color run through the barn. Personally, I'm more partial to baldies than the "full blood" Hereford, but those sweet thing will at least not try to kill ya loading them out or sorting.

Hereford Angus cross has been the best for me as far as hanging weight and meat quality - the black baldy is my favorite

Good to hear something positive about the Herefords. They almost always get docked at the local sale barn. The "Angus Beef" marketing has been A+ and every other breed wishes they had thought of it first.

Thanks for your coverage and support of Hereford Cattle. They sold 58 head of Herefords at 872 for $2.30 @ Fort Scott last Saturday. Can't beat those Black Baldies make good replacements and steers top the market. I sell Polled Hereford Bulls most of them go on black cattle. Again Thank You.

Family ranch has been running 114 years. Original herd purchased was Texas trail cattle from Wyoming with Shorthorn bulls put on them to improve the cattle. Later Hereford bulls put on the cows to improve our cows. Well before my time. When I started working for my Granddad and Dad in the early 70s we had mostly Hereford cattle. Sometimes we would trade heifers with my uncle for some black angus. We tried crossbreeding a few Galloway bulls on the Hereford cows. Not terribly successful. Since I have been buying bulls we have had a Red Angus herd and a Black Angus herd which are both moderate framed cattle. I don't know what the original video content entailed. Saw the unequivocal apology. Really appreciate your reporting and commentary. I think all you can do as a journalist is try to get to the truth as you see it. You are a good reporter and I appreciate your videos even if I don't agree with all the commentary. Corbitt this is an interesting video. We have a lot of angus based pairs. We are going to baldy up the herd. I used embryo transfer to make some great PB hereford bulls. Excited for this cross with my bulls

yeah but those blacks like to run through the fencing. then you cant see them from 3 feet away with the truck headlight on at 9pm. baldies you can atleast run your hands over their back . probably going to buy another herford bull this fall and be looking for a very young red angus for the young heifers. i know my current herford bull likes to throw heifers. this year so far 4 heifers 1 bull calf. last year was maybe 70% heifers. some people buy sexed semen , some just use herfords.

Maybe something they put in the water. Our last angus bull threw 85% heifers. It was maddening. Good thing it coincided with the market and they are worth something. Makes ya think.

I bred my 27 Herefords to a shorthorn bull. No calving problems. Very nice looking calves. I’m 100% grass fed/ grass finished beef.

I like Herefords but two reasons I don’t have them. One. Our local sale barn you’ll get 15 cents less a pound. The buyers have instructions from the processors they want black. Two when we started out I talked to the vet and was told Herefords tend to prolapse more. Still think those black baldy mothers are the best.

That’s such a wife’s tale. Angus guys will always bring that up as well as pink eye and prolapse….. All a bunch of myths nowadays. I run both, black cattle as well as old school horned Hereford genetics. Put a good black bull on them all and my Herefords raise and wean by far the best looking and largest calves. Easy to work with and best to look at too.

I'm disappointed in my fellow calf producers for supporting the rodeo. In this day and age where we are being asked to follow bmp guide lines it is hyipacrtcal to support animal torcher for entertainment , shame on all of you ask your self what's in it for the animals?
