We expect nothing less from these three amazing men! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for these wonderful weekends! Your great reactions make our weekends memorable.

I really like the lyrics - the thoughts of an ambitious young man. Not the thoughts of someone my age, so it is a reminder of days and thoughts gone by. Very honest. They are hopeful & the honesty reveals a certain innocence.🌟 Love it.❤

Robin put his hand over his ear to better hear himself and keep pitch. The guitar player is Alan Kendall - with the Bee Gee's for many, many years! - Until Mo died. This song, to me, is very revealing... Thanks for reacting to it, Chad! One of my favorites, for sure!

Thanks for playing my request and I'm sure it's also been a request from others for this song. I love all the Beegees music. ...but I like their earlier pre-disco, pre-falsetto songs too. They are so versatile and have been blessed with such amazing talent ..not only in songwriting and playing musical instruments...but also in singing in and writing songs in a way that speaks to and touches your soul and can make you smile no matter what you are feeling or going through. Thanks Chad 😊

For sure it's Alan Kendall! Masterpiece with leadvocals by Barry and Robin, what's always so wonderful to me, if they did so. On that one, it's also clear to hear, that Maurice was a real master of their three-part-harmony performances. Bloody good feelin' for music generally, he had. And Chad, if you can save lil time, check the boys out with 'King And Country', a statement for peace. And Maurice with 'The Bridge' and 'Angel Of Mercy'. On this particular songs, he appears with his children, Samantha and Adam. A collaboration of Barry with his son Stephen is to hear on a song, called 'Living In The Rain'. You'll be surprised, especially hearing the voice of Stephen.

I love early Bee Gees. They are wearing the same clothes here as when Robin does a fabulous live version of Massachusetts during an interview on the Jonny Carson show. I wonder if this was the same show and they did Massachusetts as the hit and this as the new single.
@nenushka3 жыл бұрын
You are correct. It's the same show on the 28th March 1973. They also performed "Saw a new morning". Here's the link to the whole show kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHmvfWBubN2BqKc. The Bee Gees part starts at 54:23 and then the interview at 1:05:25
@janicetrimmell68973 жыл бұрын
I noticed the same thing. Just watched the Tonight Show clip. At the couch they did Massachusetts and Mo did his comedy stylings.
This was at a bit of a low time when they were trying to find their way and stay relevant. Music was changing and they were going out of style, something that seemed to happen to them at the end of every decade. It was also after the breakup. Barry - "Maybe there's a reason why we broke up. I could dedicate my life to something new. I must have been asleep but then I woke up working out why I was still with you." Robin - people "telling me what I ought to be. Now the hurts all gone (he was hurt, feeling he was overlooked and underappreciated) I've pushed it all behind me and the world is gonna' fall in love with me." He was vilified in the press for the break up. "In the prime of my life I'll do everything right" because, as they said, they broke up as boys but came back as men. That might be what the lyrics mean too but who knows? They would often sneak in their personal feelings. Poor Robin the klutz! Bless his heart, he tries. There's an early video of "Holiday". All 5 (Vince and Colin) jump into an empty pool with sand in the bottom. Guess who fell on landing and threw a handful of sand in disgust. They walk on a pier of loose boards. Guess whose attempt was cut out of the video. They were all on a diving board and a couple jumped in. Robin was at the back of the board hanging on for dear life. They tried to get him to go to the top of the Empire State Building and dragged him into the elevator three times but each time he ran off. Robin was just a collection of adorable idiosyncrasies. Gotta' love him.

It is truly a beautiful song. The boys (men) are also under the influence of a few different mental "enhancements"...for lack of a better term. This era for them was their heavy drug or alcohol use, depending on the preference of each brother and band member.

I think that is a guy called Alan Kendall, plays this really good doesn't he. The guys sing it very deeply. Robin was holding an ear piece, he often did, Maurice would make jokes about it sometimes. I think the music must have got so loud sometimes that it made it hard to hear his brothers, and some venues must have been worse than others. How would you harmonize well with the music so loud you could barely hear the others?
@kenhamaker3 жыл бұрын
Robin used his hand to hear his voice on solo verses, he did that until they developed the ear piece that does that for singers these days.
@christinestornable18163 жыл бұрын
