I've been seeing the 1UZ very slowly but surely gain more traction (after decades) and I would love to see the aftermarket for this engine grow. On paper, it's one of my favorite engines and I'd love to actually work with it. Can't wait to see this finished project

From what I know, the 1UZ is actually one of the top JDM V8 engines available too. And if you started with a car that had a stock 1J/2J, you could sell that engine, and have plenty of cash remaining after the cost of the 1UZ to pretty much fund the swap and a few extra goodies too. Solid choice imo.

Great video! I just got my 1uz harness back so almost ready to put in my is300 just need the XAT ar5 transmission goodies before putting the car under the knife. Can't wait for your next video to see how you go about with the install

Thanks! I went with a Spitronics ECU and harness, and all the XAT racing goodies for the engine mounts and bell housing conversion.

Im from the uk. I have a is200/is300. I swap in a 98 1uz. One of the best engines for this chassis. Very handy swap and i love it. These cars should have come with this engine in them. Love the content keep it up 👍

Had a 99 GS400. Loved the engine in that thing! It was just a boat of a car. I was going to 1uz swap my 85 celica gt-s but ended up selling it before doing it. I also had a IS300. I agree it is lacking in the power department. The 1uz should be an awesome swap. I thought about doing it myself and even watched a bunch of videos about when Chip Foose did the uz swapped IS300 but used the 4.3L. Didn't look too bad and sounded ah-mazing!

Thanks alot alot alot again and again for this lovely vedio and for explaining the difference between both engines. I have LS400 96 with 1UZFE Non VVTI, actually the Non vvti is more popular in swap world, I see it in tons of vehicles like BMW , Mercedes , audi and mutch more , even boats and small 4 passengers airplane . It's less HP then VVTI, but more reliable . Thanks again .

Funny thing is my sc400 came with the 1uz vvti and its pretty quick for a street car it has the torque and the sexy v8 noises how my sc300 has the vvti 2j but u can turbo that or add a nonvvti bottom end on it I've seen people run 35psi on a nonvvti jz with no issues

I'm using the W55 manual transmission that's currently in the car, not sure how long it'll last LOL if it breaks I'll goto a W58. The only performance upgrades I'm doing are Headers and a standalone ECU, then maybe light weight pulley's at some point

ES300 is basically a fancy camry. FWD and all. It has the 1mzfe engine. Possible swaps include, but not limited to, 3sgte (I'd suggest a gen5 version if you want easy drop in power), there is a rare 1mzfe supercharger kit, a 2arfe from a modern camry/scion tc would give you similar power but a lot less weight. There are a lot more options, just depends on how deep down the rabbit hole you want to go.

People underestimate these 1uz. They always cry out for thick rod versions which are pretty dire. For not much money you can see 600+whp in these bad boys. I love mine stock. Great choice sir aha

@@marioandultrachap really easy to come across dude and gaining traction in the community as more people notice how good they are. Ls400 98+ or even the 3uz from the ls430 are great engines. For boosting cheap you can run around 400 on completely stock engine and fab a boost set up by flipping the manifold forward. Theres a good amount of info about them now tbf man. Not sure if that's what you meant about finding them aha. But yeah the auto box zaps a lot of power. So even a manual swap in an is300/200 depending where you are is a good upgrade. Blocks very light. The is200 had a 1gfe which is pretty small and it's still lighter. Worth reading up on man. Easy to swap in a weekend.

@@blownaway4371 I'll have a look through after work dude. Yeah the headers need tapping in slightly around the steering rack but that's it really it's literally a couple blows with a hammer. Think theres a couple vids on YT too about an install on is300 dude. It's a great replacement as it keeps the body balanced well too being so light. I think wet it's around 174kg

1uz is a heavily underrated engine. Some good headers, a free flowing exhaust, some 12.5:1 pistons, kelford cams, some S65 BMW ITBs, a good aftermarket ECU and you won't need a turbo.
