Hermès Kelly Dépêche 38 Men's Briefcase: Detailed review & try-on

In Gold vache liégée leather with palladium hardware. This has been discontinued for about 10 years I think, so I ended up having to purchase this pre-owned after months of research and waiting for the right one to show up.
I purchased this on 1stDibs (not sponsored), but you still need to do your due diligence whenever buying any pre-owned luxury goods. If you've been a subscriber, you know that I don't buy pre-owned if a new one is available, but that wasn't an option this time.
I was inspired by Filippo Fiora, one half of TheThreeF.com, to get this bag. He has amazing editorial shots of it and I am an avid follower on IG.

Sellier means the seam and stitch are on the outside and gives it a more ridged look. Retourne means the stitching is turned inside and it’s structure is softer.

Regarding to the so-called “Brown Stamping “ you were wondering, it’s “Blind Stamping” which only be produced on “Barenia Leather” FYR. Thanks for sharing such a nice bag from Hermès

Thanks for watching. Well blind stamping would be colorless though, like most Gucci leather tags (like on the hard-sided case I just got).

Also if you wanna “retrain” the leather as you said, stuff it. Make sure it’s how you want it to look, then apply very low heat blow dryer around the area to soften the leather up. Once it starts to mold into the way you want it, turn off the heat and let it cool. Holding it in place. Leave it stuffed for about 3 days. There you go. It should be a lot better than how it was.

Thanks for sharing and you look handsome and well built Some reference information for you: 1.leather should be “couchevel”, which is the predecessor to Epsom introduced in late 1990s 2. unless specifically ordered, gold colour must be sewed with white stitches. The term “sellier” (which means horse tools) as far as I know only applies to Kelly bag. For Kelly dépêches, only sizes 34cm and 38cm are available.

Thank you for the new information. I never knew about the couchevel leather. I saw some close ups via Google (assuming they're correct) and the leather grain doesn't seem to match exactly, but then again this bag is probably 10 years old. Also didn't know that about the gold color; I'm still quite a newbie to Hermès 😅

The Birkin and Kelly you can purchase in store depending on stock and client relationship. This version of the Kelly I believe is only available for custom orders, for which they only have a limited amount of orders available for year.
