I was really touched when he discovered that a bag he'd created in France was now in his hands 15 years later in Hong Kong! Who could say that about their work? Fascinating. This is why Hermès is so frightfully expensive. But it is also why they are the very best.

The price has nothing to do with the production cost and quality. The value lies in how much people are willing to pay for the exclusivity and prestige. If you look into the deconstruction of the value, including the cost of the work, the pricing is astonishing. It's expensive purely for the image. What a world we live in.
@bellasadar74434 жыл бұрын
@@Zeverinsen they also control the number of products released thus increasing its value because of exclusivity. However, if you think about it, the resale value is actually much more expensive than what hermes is selling it for which would make this bag a worthwhile investment to other people.

In a world of mass production, trends, and disposable items, Hermés strives to make products such as their bags to have more value and quality that's worth keeping for years. Craftsmanship is something rare these days. It's nice that Hermés still continues their traditions. I think that back in the day, there were many craftsmen who made quality leather items who aren't well known and didn't have the capital to expand their business, and after they retire, they leave works of art in the hands of their customers who will use them for many many years. It's nice that Hermés has able to sustain itself and maintain their quality and brand prestige for this long. They're able to do this by being a family owned company. The way these artisans repair the bags, it's so calming and gentle.

The art of making and refurbishing these handbags is a total figurative way of describing life where something precious begins at birth and then constantly given a chance to improve the over all quality throughout the years of 'wear and tear' to withstand more test of time. Some people might think about this as a superficial thought, but the sentimental value these bags have with its artisans who made it and the owners who owns it evokes a whole sense of connection and memories. If odds would be in my favor, I'd be honored to have one of these precious hand bags in the future amid its worth and exclusivity. :)
