I’m currently staying at the Hilton Amsterdam. I’m from the states and never knew of Herman Brood. My Uber driver told me about him last night. I was 13 when he died, but here I am listening to his music in the same hotel he jumped from. I wish I had heard of him earlier.

Saw him in the late seventies in Germany (Karlsruhe and Berlin), what a great and energetic show! One of them was even interrupted by him publicly for a new injection. Then I saw him again in the mid nineties in Halle/Germany with a very young band. An old man barely able to move. The piano was replaced by a handheld Casio keyboard, no energy, a breaking voice and depressing sadness in front of merely 30 or 40 people. I went home with a deep sadness. I will keep him in mind as the outstnding artist he was not only in music. And I really love the way bands from the Netherlands played Rock‘n‘Roll back then (e.g. Vitesse).
