Good actor, the funniest character put on screen in the 60s, today it's still funny to watch this. May Fred gwynnes soul rest in peace.

I think Fred Gwynne wore the Jack Pierce Frankenstein design even better than Boris Karloff. He had such an amazing and expressive face. His mouth expressions are great, but dear god, those eyes. Combined with the giant fake brow, the results are magic.

Herman bears a striking resemblance to many Hams who you see at hamfests. But seriously folks, radio Hams do come from 'all-walks' and in all sizes shapes and ages. The hobby is a great equalizer between Kings and peasants; we can refer to each other by first names and calls, and they are friends we just have not met yet.

True, I suppose it is a positive step designed to attract more new "blood" into the hobby, but, on the other hand, learning the code, even at the basic 5 words per minute speed, was a "rite of passage" that many of us, myself included had to do. However, that is a minor thing to get rid of in order to keep things alive. Yes, it's true, if we don't use it, we'll lose it, as happened with half of the 220 MHz band some years back. The FCC giveth and the FCC can taketh away.

As a Frankenstein Monster, Hermann Munster is very extremely nice guy and hilarious. I love how he always says Darn Darn Darn Darn Darn Darn when something happens to him. And his wife Lily always get disgusted with him and say That's my 🐦 bird brain Hermann. Especially when Hermann Munster drank Grandpa homing pigeon potion in the dungeon. Hermann Munster became a homing pigeon and says Darn Darn Darn Darn Darn Darn in the living room. Lily his wife says That's my 🐦 bird brain Hermann all disgusted and upset with him. That part made me laugh so hard, it was totally awesome and hilarious? I can't never keep a straight face if I was there on the set? They would take me off the set especially that episode of Hermann turned into a homing pigeon? Rest in ☮️ Peace Hermann Munster, Lily Munster, and Grandpa Munster.

You can't even compare. There's a reason why CB is called "Children's Band", and we were saying this 30 years ago. Big difference between having to pass an exam and just plunking down $40 for a "CB" radio. By the way, no, you do NOT need to be "good at algebra". The basic ham test is 25 multiple choice questions, and to pass you only need to get 70% of them correct. I think that is 18 questions? Mostly rules, regulations, operating procedures. NO math. Repeat... NO math (for the basic, anyway)

I took some practice tests for the technician class. There was a bit of math involved. Mostly Ohms law (wish I payed more attention my high school electronics class) and converting watts to amps (and vise versa). I am glad it's easier to get a license. I am glad I don't have to learn morse code. We need new people involved to keep the hobby alive. It would be easy for the FCC to reallocate ham frequencies if corporations complain loudly enough. "Hardly anyone uses that band, let us use it"

I passed the technician test this past November. There is a little math on the test. But you can use a calculator. Overall your point is valid. It was reasonably easy to pass the test. I just keep doing online practice tests till I passed them consistently.

I ran out of characters there... by “basic”, I refer to the “entry level” of amateur radio license, the “Technician” class. 25 multiple choice questions basically on rules, regulations and operating procedures... NO math... 70% required to pass. 7 year old children pass this thing. NO Morse Code required for ANY ham radio license no. It’s easier than it’s even been. PLUS, you’ve got repeaters, it’s “FM” (which means clear, static free (relatively) and... it’s a lot of fun.
@harcosparky11 жыл бұрын
@handspudbud How frequently must on ID by law in 34 seconds. How do you check to see if a frequency is in use, do you transmit on the frequency to see if it is in use talking over other stations? Or, do you listen first and hearing nothing start your transmission. Seems to me you have jumped to a couple of conclusions prematurely.
