I heard that Fred Gwynne could really sing and play the guitar as you can see him changing cords with his fingers. Most actors and actresses when singing on a television show, they don't move their fingers when changing cords.

Yeah, it did look like he was doing good kob holding the chords but look at the slide up the neck at the end of the song. It still sounded like the same chord.

It wasn't a joke. The Munsters were not on television for a long time. The makeup/ costume Herman wore, literally wore him out. However, the show was very well made. Why do you think it is still so popular today?

I had a tape recorder similar to the one Eddie used, during 1970, and the microphone was similar but had no stand or holder, you had to hold it yourself. My device was bigger than Eddie's, and was so heavy it took 2 people to carry it. I watched Laugh-In when new, and recognized the announcer who played Herman's song.

It is too bad this episode hadn't been filmed before a live audience. i could imagine the applause Fred Gwynne would have gotten, and particularly how it might've made him feel, considering that this role so badly typcast his career that he couldn't appreciate it half as much as we could. I think that tapes and analog recordings were more expensive..but I am not sure that we are living in better times..not really but there is some things that are better about technology...they are definitely not making t.v shows like this..and they are not making great records...our movies are lame compared to this time period as well..what a great time period this was!

This was one of my favorite sitcom TV shows when I was in high school I couldn't wait to get home to watch the monsters on channel 11 I was 16 years old and I just love this show it was only on for 2 years but it was one of the best 2 years of television comedy that I'm familiar with they don't make comedy like this anymore put back in the day I consider this good comedy
