The Munsters were, in my opinion, one of the best tv comedy series ever made in the US, due to one very simple reason. It was silly and extremely funny. It was a caricature of many values and mores of American society and culture at the time, and they chose to make fun of them (even questioned them) in a matter that was enjoyable and very funny, while keeping a noted political critique.

My favorite episode Grandpa told Herman, stay out of dungeon, of course Herman goes anyway. He cranked up all Grandpa's equipment flashing around, he looked into camera and said, I don't know what I'm doing but I'm having a lot of fun! Good ole Herman great character.

Fred Gwynn was well known as a writer and illustrator of children's books before and after his film career came to an end. He was friends with Ted Cassidy who was well known as a radio broadcaster. This is my all time favorite scene in the entire series. Herman is a physical monster, as strong & as tough as a bulldozer but with the heart of a true gentleman. He wasn't even trying to scare those men, but they decided they did not have enough people or equipment to deal with Herman
