That is an astonishing stack of parts for each saddle. I had no idea. I need another lifetime.

Bruce, I noticed all those books under one of your work benches. If they are books on leather, I'd be interested in hearing what the titles are and what you consider essential books to read. Thanks for sharing with us, it's really appreciated.

Jeffrey W Yes, those are my reference books for different things mostly about bit and spur making or bit and spur makers. I just moved them to the top of the bench a couple days ago so I could find a better place for them. I should do a video of going through my books and telling a little about them.One book that is hard to find is They Saddled The West by Lee M Rice and Glenn R. Vernam I found my copy on eBay several years ago and paid 85.00 for it that would be a good one for you. Horseman Jack Brainard told me I needed that book so I got one. Anyway I will do a video sometime in the future about my books and a little bit of what I get out of them. Thank You Bruce

+Bruce Cheaney Did you ever make this video about your books?

WOW ! I did not realize that it takes so many pieces to make one saddle! How long will it take you to complete one average saddle after the leather pieces are cut? Would you make a video showing the saddle at different stages as you go or do you already have a video like that? Thank You

Hi Bruce, love the videos I’m interested in buying hermann oak leather for my projects I’ve been using Tandy but would like to oil dye because I like that dark color it produces and I can’t get it with imported leather. Do you have any videos showing the oil process on hermann oak thanks again and happy new year.

Speaking of 'cut out' - what tools are you using to cut that thick stuff?

Custom Saddle making is, for me, the pinnacle of custom leather work. It impresses me to no end. So you order right from Hermann Oak?
@cheaneysaddles9 жыл бұрын
Mike Carlson Yes, I order ten sides at a time that is the minimum amount I can order. Thanks Bruce

Bruce I built my first saddle over 20 yrs ago with the aid of your videos. I want to thank you for making them; I would not have had a good result without them. I have so far built 20 saddle and even received second place at the show held at the Sheridan leather trade show on a saddle in the stamped division. I like the way you go over each step carefully, leaving nothing out. You've made quite an impression on me, thanks Bruce!
