Dear pastor Addison, thank God for you. You are my answered prayer. You have truly inspired me and as an elder in my church. I really don’t take quality time to study my word. I am ashamed to say it but I don’t think I understand Bible as i should and I hate reading but my soul has been yearning severely to know, and to understand God’s word .watching you has inspired me so much that I repented to God and made a new vow that I would get in the word every day to read and study, please help on what study material to start with thank you and God‘s blessings be continually upon you and family❤❤

Excellent subject. This is why I use an NASB Hebrew/Greek Study Bible. And always read for context. If you’re not sure about a particular passage, follow the 20/20 rule: read the preceding 20 verses and the following 20 verses.

That 20/20 rule is a great way to make sure you keep it in context!

I love this video, especially that cycle of the influence that the word has on the sentence.

It also helps to use a Strong's Concordance to look up the actual definition of the English words within verses. Many of the English versions are paraphrases and pretty bad translations.

How do you apply hermeneutics.
@GrantsPassBaptist-Church4 жыл бұрын
So the How to study the Bible video really helps lay out a practical hermeneutic for studying 😊 I know it sounds fancy, but hermeneutics is simply the science of interpretation (or the way you should interpret to get the authors intent 👍) we lay that out simply in that video.

Could I ask a question? If the Holy spirit teaches us all Why is there so many interpretations?

Because we speak different languages and live in different timelines. Language always evolves.

Perhaps most Christian’s don’t have the Holy Spirit as they don’t submit to the will of God in their life.

Blessings. I am new to hermeneutics and it seems so interesting, I’ve been told I can’t Wear jewelry, makeup and many other things I won’t discuss. But 1 Timothy 2:9 I’d like help understanding because I believe it’s taken out of context. Is there any particular hermeneutics book you recommend for me to buy? I’d really appreciate the help.

Hey there! Context is definitely key. I would recommend checking out a book called B.I.B.S. By Ryan Rench. It is a book all about helping study the Bible in context and he provides a very simple framework. You can also watch this video to see how I break down how to study (aka hermeneutics) kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYm2XoGlrJmYnqc Hope these help! 😊

Hermeneutics, named after God Hermes. Read each book, one at a time, how hard is that?

Didn't know that God's word needs interpretation a d especially by a third person. This is what is said about Koran as well which can not surely be true..
@GrantsPassBaptist-Church9 ай бұрын
Friend, of course the word needs interpretation. How else would you understand? Even if an angel from heaven spoke to you.. you would need to interpret. Interpretation is simply asking what did the speaker mean. This is how communication works.
