In this video, I’ll share with you guys my very first Hermes box! I received the Hermes Bastia Coin Purse as a birthday present from my beautiful cousin this year and I couldn’t be happier with my very first orange piece!
The Hermes Bastia Coin Purse is an iconic small leather good to the Hermes brand with it’s unique origami design, nifty coin pouch feature and in the beautiful Epsom leather.

Congrats on your Bastia, it is so cute and handy, you won’t regret it. To stop the button indentation, when closing the Bastia, I push a coin (inside the Bastia) in between the button closure so when you press the button to close, it’s pushing into the coin rather than leather. I hope what I’m saying makes sense hehe

Thank you for pointing out the sharp corners which I noticed but in many reviews missed out on this and yes the button when closing - this I didn’t notice.

I’ve had my Bastia as my first Hermès for almost 8 months now and it still looks brand new! I don’t reach for coins often but it’s been in my bag and the only wear is I think it’s slightly flatter. I’m hoping that keeping bills in the back will slow down the wear from the button indent. 😊

I hope you love your piece! I don’t own this particular item but I can say once you start on H you can’t stop.. their quality is unbeatable! Also don’t be worried about visiting the store, it seems intimidating but so far I’ve had only great experiences in there. They don’t judge you even if you only want to buy a lipstick or something ☺️

@@helloxluxury Ikr. In comparison, the Hermés Kelly belt comes with three dustbags. I guess Hermés is keeping the cost down when it comes to Bastia. They have really nice dustbags, though, compared with e.g. Louis Vuitton.

I got the pink colour last year and was also disappointed that it didn’t come with a dustbag. Their lipsticks and belts come with a dust bag so it’s strange the Bastia didn’t have one. Love the gold colour too. Congrats on your new purchase!

There is an idea!! To keep the button snap-closure from leaving an imprint on the back of the pouch, always keep the lowest denomination bill that you have in Australia in there and never take it out! It'll work as a shield! And I saw that same coin purse in the Men's section of the Hermès website, is it a unisex item? Wonderful video!

the Bastia was my first hermes leather piece. I can fit cash, coins, maybe a single lipstick, a tiny mirror, a key to my bag lock, earbuds (no airpods as it may stretch it out), but not all at once 😉 not super useful, I have it mostly for looks as I chose ostrich leather, so it's a "precious" leather though not one I need a special permit for where I live. 👀I like the color you chose. mine did not come with a dust bag either. bummer. I just got an LV key holder and that came with a dust bag and was considerably less $$$

Thank you for sharing! I’ve never tried putting a lippie in but good to know it fits! It’s cute and handy to house small things you don’t want to lose inside your bag. It’s not super necessary but is cute! Especially in pops of colour 😊

I have 2 one from here Australia and the other from Korea and none of them had a dust bag for it. I love my pieces but it doesn’t fit cards i found it not really useful due to I don’t carry cash anymore. I’m considering to get a carvi now 🙂 but still love my bastia and they always in my bag

Do you baby your bags or use them for what there meant for? Also, do you have the neverfull mm? If so, is there anything I can do about the dent from where it was folded in the box?

I use them for what they’re meant for but I also take care of them - not to the point where I baby them but I don’t throw them around or anything. I’m mindful where I place it and also how I store them ☺️ Yess I do have the Neverfull mm! I’ve done a video comparing it to the Speedy 30. The creases will fade as you keep using it. Try stuffing it with a pillow or air paper when you store it too so it helps the process. My speedy 30 had the same issue too when I first got it but over time the creases faded 😊

@@helloxluxury ok thank you. I’ve had it a few weeks and have used it a few times. I did get a organiser for it but the top of the organiser causes a dent that can be seen from the outside of the bag so I don’t feel like I can use that now

@@beautymaven3952 hello, well the leather is really soft and one time it got bent while in my handbag. I don’t like babying my things so it made me nervous to carry it. I feel like it’s not durable bc of that. Also, It’s not convenient at all to put folded bills inside with the coins when you’re checking out. I think it’s overly hyped just bc it’s very affordable from hermes. Just for me though, I’m sure a lot of other ppl truly love it. I think if I was to get another coin purse I would get one with no corners (it’ll have less wear that way) and thicker like the LV canvas

@@beautymaven3952 I have the evergrain calfskin. I have it in the verso colors Rouge Piment/Rouge De Coeur :) that’s prob the softest one but you would think for a coin purse it’ll feel a little more durable 🤪

I just got the piece. It snaps. However I find the snap closure not strong. Is your piece similar. A D is it meant not to be a strong snap closure.

Mine is relatively strong. It doesn’t open when it’s filled with coins and shake it. If yours does, perhaps take it into an Hermes store if you can and see if it’s faulty or if the others in store have the same issue.

Definitely! I’ve got it filled about half way with a lot of coins (probably around $10 worth) and it’s still really compact. Heavy because of all the coins, but compact 😋
