So far I have loved a lot of the fragrances from Christine Nagel. She has huge shoes to fill and I think that is why she get's a lot of hate. She is making far better frags than other recent dumpster fires I have smelled from other popular perfumers like Francis Kurkdjian and Quentin Bisch.
@davidwas-auch-immer72118 ай бұрын
I personally really love Christine Nagel's work. She has a really smart way of creating fragrances! The hate may come because of people unwilling to accept change. Nothing is forever, and we have to be open minded to new ways and creations at many fragrance houses. Not everything may be great, but especially with Hermès, i dont get the negativity. Hermès just wont follow trends, they do their own thing in their own way, and thats what i appreciate the most. Nobody will ever like every fragrance, and thats totally fine. If a fragrance isnt a safe blind buy, people often will instantly hate too, but thats what you get for not sampling first. Christine Nagel, in my opinion, has done an amazing job at continuing in the Hermès-way! Really looking forward to trying H24 Herbes Vives, as i love the collection :)

H24 is great and unique for certain scenarios. The EDT is super linear, so I don't like to wear it when I am just sitting somewhere stationary as it can be headache inducing and get annoying. But I haven't found a better scent at this price point to wear when you are active and outside. I use it to play golf. It doesn't smell like "fragrance or cologne" so much, so it's just an interesting smell to those around you, so you aren't the asshole who is wearing fragrance to work out/go outdoors. Excited to try this one and see if it's even better.

"F-" not "S-". It would be "S-" if it were spelled "Psy-" 🙂 But I don't know, really, whether they pronounce it to start like "Fiss", "Fizz" or "Fie" (like "eye") . No idea. At least I'm sure it starts with an "f" not an "s." (Actually, if it started with "Psy-" the French would probably pronounce the "p", too, like "Psee-". )

No the s is not silent, because there’s is the accent grave on the e. It would be silent if it were spelled hermes and not hermès

Christine Nagel had big shoes to fill and she did okay. Just okay. I don’t think anyone cares now, since she has been there for at least a decade at this point. Her body of work seen as just a tad bit too commercial not artistic enough. Conversely, till now, there has been no real breakout hit from her and Hermes. On a side note, the perfumer arms-race has also gotten crazy. Dior splurged to sign Francis Kurkdjian. What Hermes needs on the fragrance side is someone a little bit more inspired.

I got into fragrances the last year, and H24 EDT caught my attention because of the "metallic" smell reviewers mentioned. It was love at first sniff 😂 because i wanted something that smells unique and sure it did surpass my expectations the first time i tried it. Also I've gotten a tiny decant of the EDP as a gift for another fragrance and i liked it for colder weather, I'm thinking about getting that one too to have both as my signature fragrance. Herbes vives is really overpriced in my country, so i will wait ans see if i can try it first before the price drops. Also, people tend to dislike changes and expect everything to be same over the years... I don't see why so much hate over the new line of Hermes. To me is just a waste of time being a hater.
@ThePerfumeGuy14 күн бұрын
I think they are not typically conventional fragrances or smell like every other designer fragrance everyone is used to also some Hermes purists do not like Nagel's creations so there are two sides of hate. I think this H24 line is refreshing and better than what's out there on the market for men! Now on the other hand it could be a bit more intense but that's just what we have to deal with. :)

I haven't tried them all, but the Nagel fragrances I've tried have disappointing bases. There isn't enough complexity in the EDT base to make it interesting for a whole day. Same with Eau Givree and Eau Intense Vetiver. I think Demachy at Dior did much better creating frags with good, robust bases. Her fragrances don't have that X factor that makes them exciting for men.
