I like it when you say, "hit it with this stuff here..." and a red straw comes into the frame ;)

The one thing I don't like about these machines is the fact that the cover panels are just so thin. A somewhat thicker gauge of sheet metal would have made a big difference in keeping them from getting bent and twisted which can tend to interfere with things. That and the fact that the stops for the shift adjustment are rough, so you can't use the "paper drag" but have to do the balance the hard way! 😄

Comfortably numb! question. I have a Rocket and the key slugs hit the metal limit stop plate before they hit the platen. they stop perhaps 5mm before the platen. the platen adjustment is maximally foreward. any ideas? nothing seems bent. the platen seems original. I cannot figure out what is wrong. if i remove the polished metal strike plate, the slugs will hit the platen but that is not the answer.

That's my typewriter. Glad I found your channel. I need some help getting proper tension on the ribbon. it gets very loose when typing and that causes a lot of smearing. Any help would be very appreciated.

Hey I wonder if you can help me. I’ve been repairing one of these and trying to swap platens from one functioning rocket to another one. Problem I’m having is that when putting everything back together I’m having trouble with what appears to be 2 thin(crush?) washers where the left platen knob screws into the line skipping mech. I don’t understand the position these are supposed to be in and every time I go to tighten on the left knob once tightened onto the end of the platen the line skip mech is completely unable to move. Do you have any diagrams or documents of this mech?

Nope, no diagrams . . . I would have to see the machine in-person to figure this out.

Is it just me, or is the right ribbon reverse mechanism missing a spring?
@yaboiiiiiiii_ok2 жыл бұрын
derp! You mentioned it directly!

@@yaboiiiiiiii_okLooked like it was just associated with the manual reverse lever, so it probably went unnoticed for years!
