I did some math. The chance of fishing an enchanted book with luck of the sea 3 is 1.9%. The chance mending is one of those enchants is 1.5% (rounded up). Combining those two gives the staggering 0.029% chance of getting mending which I multiplied by the amount of times Grian fished, 2840, which gave the average output to be... 0.824 mending books... sorry Grian. Even math doesn't take your side. Impulse must be a magician lol.

I actually really like Grians take on minecraft this time. Taking everything one build at a time and not going too overboard is an awesome way of both filling out the world with builds and not getting burnt out by a large project.

I was thinking the exact same thing. The mega-bases seem to have grown in size, scope and complexity with each passing season up to the point where i can't imagine they are fun to design or build anymore on a vanilla server. And while they make a good thumbnail to draw new viewers, you got to wonder at what point the increase in scale stops to even matter. If nothing else i personally prefer seeing a small and somewhat detailed build over a facade that can only be shown from one side since the back is missing. I really hope the "Smaller and more detailed" take sticks around. A bunch of small builds related to things that are just happening on the server not only make the video's more interesting (Compared to the "Here is a 5 minute timelapse of me working 6 hours on a build you've seen many times before"), but i assume they make content creation more fun as well. And i like the thought of a world download after the season, that is sprinkled with little builds that are mementos of past episodes. A fun trip down memory lane so to speak.

an idea for all the puffers, make an "excuse" shop, "have plans you want to avoid? just eat one of these handy-dandy 'excuses' and you can call in guilt free!!!" sell the puffers as excuses or for premium customers have like little stationary traps. i think that might gain a few giggles and would be funny to see what people do with it in the future just an idea for you :)

Grian, once you have enough prismarine, consider making a conduit for your mining setup. If you can make a chamber for the structure and submerge it in water, then use a water bucket at the beginning of your mineshaft, the haste bonus from Conduit Power can *really* increase your productivity. You have the nautilus shells from fishing, all you need is a heart of the sea!

A seasoned Minecraft fisherman here. I'd recommend having a grind stone around your fishing area so you can disenchant unwanted bows, fishing rods, and books for that extra bit of exp.

hello grian. my friend has informed me that, due to the fact that you have lure ii on your fishing rod, you have actually decreased the chances of catching treasures. it may be in your best interest to get a new rod and only have luck of the sea if at all possible. best of luck with catching that book! :)

Hey Grian, I did the math and it looks like Impulse has some insane luck... With Luck of the Sea III, the odds of you getting an enchanted book is 1.9%, and then on top of that, there is a 2/136, or ~1.5% chance that you get mending as that book. Stacking those two up makes there about a 0.028% chance of fishing up a mending book, which means that in order for it to be statistically likely for you to get a mending book, you'd have to cast about 3600 total times. Good news is you only have 800 more to go! Also, love the content, thanks for all of the work you put into these videos :)

Well, since you can get multiple enchants on the same book it's more like 0.056% (assuming you get two per book, on average). I don't know what exactly you mean by statistically likely, but if it's a 51% chance to have caught it, then you'd only need to fish about 1300 times. This probably isn't accurate either though, because two per book on average is probably a gross oversimplification.

And those cattails are really cool - I instantly saw them as cattails and almost couldn't figure out what minecraft items they were made of until you described it!

The pufferfish are used for water breathing potions, which will be useful when you find the ocean monument you need. Awkward potion + pufferfish + red stone dust is up to 24 minutes of water breathing

One time I decided to get a Trident, and spent like 8 hours looking for one. Once I got it I decided to fish up a mending book for it. I spent around 12 hours fishing. Once I had it I had so many hearts of the seas and nautilus shells that I made like 26 conduits. Also around 15 minutes after fishing up the mending book I went mining, found a spawner, and chest had another mending book

Grian I did the rough math for you, if my calculations are correct (🤓) you will get a mending book every 3605 casts (with luck of the sea 3), 2840 is all of the times you have right clicked the fishing rod so around 1420 successful casts (messing around flinging people in the sky does count). so your luck isn't really that bad.

I was thinking along the lines of Hermit Cannonball, where opposing teams fling a hermit onto a faraway target. In order to count, the flung hermit must survive, i.e. bucket save. The closest to the bullseye wins.

The reason why it takes even longer to get a mending book is because you have lure with luck of the sea. Basically what you did is cancel out the higher chances of getting books and stuff because you also added lure to the fishing rod.

The fishing thing could be turned into a team game. Teams of 5. You have a tower and a target, you pick your ball (player), then you gotta launch them as high as possible, and land in a scoring zone on the target. Score is the height, multiplied by the target zone, with a bonus if the player survives.

Well after some quick maths keeping in mind that: -Finding treasure via fishing is 11.3% with Luck of the Sea 3 -That the treasure found is an Enchanting book being 1/6 chance (Meaning finding a book to start with is 1.9%) -That their are about 49 enchanting books in the game This means that theoretically (Keeping in mind that this is just Mending on the book) the odds of finding a Mending book is 0.039% (Rounded up). But hey, it paid off... eventually.

Since all of your bases are going to be so close, you’ll likely have to share a nether portal. I think it would be cool to put the portal in the middle of the cherry mountain and have all the tunnels meet at that location. You could also make the tunnels more nether like the closer to the portal they get, so it looks like they are slowly being corrupted. I feel like it would make the whole mountain feel alive.

I think fishing hut looks fantastic, but I would have the roof be angled the other way. While it's no concern in Minecraft, IRL the rain would run off the roof right onto the pier, rather than off into the lake. Additionally, the other angle would make the opening onto the pier taller. Small details, but they would help sell the design.

You could turn the fishing into a game. Everyone starts fishing in a line and every time you get a lilypad, you put it down and can move forwards onto it. Then it's either the first one to make it to a certain point or the one who gets the furthest after a certain amount of time wins.
