Honestly if anyone can figure out the dripleaf, it's probably Doc and his hivemind. The guy broke the ender dragon's AI to bring it into the overworld, used update suppression to teleport items between a chest and his inventory, shot an arrow through like 5000 blocks, and this season he's teleporting boats. He'll probably come up with some way to suppress updates on dripleaves or something.

Since I live in a log cabin, I've always lamented the lack of good "log-looking" logs in Minecraft. I'm gonna give the signs-on-logs a try. Our home doesn't use daubing, as the logs are flattened on the top and bottom with tongue-and-groove shaping to add stability. So, I'm going to go with a lighter sign on darker logs, so that the logs become the shadow. That might just work! Thanks, BDubs!

Bdubs I just wanna say how next-level great all your episodes have been this season. I know people tend to celebrate longer episodes just for being longer and giving us "more content" but you've really made incredible use of the longer format. You clearly put a lot of care into the pacing and editing, as you have for years now, rather than just freewheeling and letting things run long just because. I'm always blown away by what you come up with.

@Subatomicfish
@Subatomicfish 20 күн бұрын
I can confirm that there is a way to do it... in 24w14potato. It's very easy in that one, all you have to do is move the dripleaf with a floatater while it's in the down state. The only thing that seems to update it are receiving a redstone signal (or adding another dripleaf on top manually, of course, but that changes the block so duh). You could pretty easily build a whole roof with them, get them in a downstate with armor stands, then shift the whole thing into place with a single floatater, and there you have it.
@Subatomicfish
@Subatomicfish 19 күн бұрын
Also I figured out you can make floating versions of it by starting with it planted on farmland so the bounding box doesn’t connect to the block it’s placed on. Then you can float it into place. Either tilted down or not both look really good as overhangs or awnings imo

Dripleaf options: 1. Update suppression, you overload the amount of updates the game can calculate, making the leaf stuck in the state you desire, with timing should even be able to get the intermediate state for a 22,5 deg tilt, talk to Doc, he knows alot about this. Option two, vanilla tweaks mod, the modding community loves you as do we all, if they havent made it already by the time i place this comment im sure it wont be long, maybe give them a quick ask on twitter. Should just be a matter of setting a nbt tag like how you can do with the invisible item frames today. Also, thanks for the awesome entertainment today, hugs

To my knowledge the only way without dropping an item to keep the plant thing down is a debug stick. IDEA: Have like a dropper system up in the sky the dispenses an item every few correct ticks so an item is always weighing the leaf down. Have it high above so it's out of render distance. The items are dropped with a synchronized clock so by the time the plant is up, and item has already been dropped on it. Hope this might be helpful!

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this: The grouting in-between the logs in the cabin by your house is packed mud. There's loads of names for it (daub, cob, etc.) but it's just clay. The logs don't sit flush (as is the case with most old log cabins in America) and so the gap is plugged with clay.

Coming from someone whose day job is working as a mailman, your mail room is a great representation of an actual small village post office. The bookshelves work great as mail cases where mail is sorted daily before its delivered. I know there's limited space but a minecart would look good in a corner somewhere to represent the mail carts we use to transport mail and parcels through the office. Maybe even a minecart with a chest to simulate a large parcel in a mail cart. Add some old hanging ceiling fans and a few signs/paintings to represent billboards and it would look even better. Your builds are inspiring to me. You have taught me a lot. Thank you!

So I didn't realize that when the redstoners were powering the dripleaf ( _e.g._ Cub at 30:10 ), they were testing an *actual Minecraft mechanic* that powered dripstone stays horizontal. But once I saw that in the code, it was _super easy_ to write a mod to *lock the dripleaf state, **_regardless_** of tilt* when powered. Anyway, if you can convince X to add it, the mod is called *Leafstone.* Hmu if you have any questions.

one thing to remember with the terracotta making is that drying the mud takes 20 minutes (excluding the stray blocks that don’t dry) for 2 stacks, but it also takes 20 minutes for 10 stacks if you make more drying spots. mining terracotta will take more time with more blocks,, so if you’re doing more than probably 20 stacks or want to make terracotta passively it might be worth to make a big drying rack 👍

I mean regarding the terracotta: Drying the mud is scalable, the more mud you place to dry the more clay you get in the same amount of time Harvesting the terracotta isn't scalable, you can only go as fast as you can mine it (I mean you can scale it with more people mining but outside that). Drying the mud requires passive time, time spent doing other things Harvesting the terracotta requires active time. Passive time can be counted as effectively no time, as it doesn't remove time from other tasks. Imagine you place the mud and start building, the time it takes for the mud to become clay can be ignored, it's the same time cost as if you started building, then stopped and instantly converted the mud to terracotta. The only active time spent is in the harvesting of dirt, turning dirt into mud, placing the mud, and harvesting the clay to put in the furnaces. That's the amount of time that's actually important to compare. Also considering you'd be destroying a mesa biome, you likely wouldn't want to harvest from the closest mesa, increasing the time to gather it directly by a slight amount.

Yeah. How many blocks can be placed in 30 minutes? That's the maximum amount he can get by that method. So that by time he finishes placing blocks, he can start collecting the clay. You can make a machine that makes Terracota fully automatic, although it's quite big, the process goes: Bone Meal a Moss Block to get an Azalea, grow it with more Bone Meal, the Moss turn into Rooted Dirt, water bottle the Rooted Dirt, move the Mud to the dry plataform, Observer it so when it dries move it to blast chamber, the blast chamber destroy it and send it to Furnance Array, and it turns into Terracota. ~This machine is amazing, and it's probably very complicated to build.

The fact that you used the shape of the newly leafed tree ( the one that was dead by the mail box) to create shapes when you look at your base. It is incredible. At certain parts leafs touching and connecting to the background dead tree to create a unison feel with that part of the base with little whimsical pieces that connect to the buildings but not blocking it, and more of highlighting the buildings again making it look like a well crafted picture (pun intended). Bdubs, as someone with a longstanding Canadian wilderness heritage canoeing throughout rivers and lakes in the Great Wild (I live in the Netherlands now, not a lot of wilderness left there unfortunately), I would love you putting a little fishing pond with a tiny dock underneath the Great Oak. Me and my grandfather would spend summers on end sitting underneath a large willow tree in the shade, just fishing and reminiscing. Peaceful, sometimes with a fruitful bounty, sometimes just laughing and relaxing. More often than not just enjoying the wildlife on the other side of the pond drinking or hunting little critters. He would teach me which herbs to pick for food, which fish were tasty and which plants to grow to sustain life in and around the pond. And the best thing about that tree: a rope swing from a big sturdy branch into the pond. Childhood fun for years that I now show my own kids. Great vid as always.
